Best Of Thank You Notes: Part 2
Here’s Part 2 of our guide for the absolute best thank you notes. We’re focusing on 6 brands that will say “Thanks!” in a fabulously fun way:
Linda & Harriett: I bookmarked the Linda & Harriett website for months as a source of fun design – and when I finally saw their paper goods in person, they were that much more impressive. What I love about them is that none of their goods are pretentious — which is ideal for thank you notes. Whether they’re playful or a little more serious, “they all have character” as designer Liz Libré says. The quality of each piece is also superb; each card is letterpressed in Maine on 110 lb. cover weight paper (very thick!). Plus, the prices are quite reasonable, averaging $18 for a set of eight, including a choice in envelope color. My picks? The “Hedgy” notecard is incredibly cute and really, just impossible to resist going “Awww!” over. For a more elegant occasion, I would pick “Linda in Yellow” or “Summer Dress,” which both feature simple floral designs. And if you’re saying thanks during the holidays, you can’t go wrong with their holiday line. I adore the “Pigs Kissing” notecard – it’s humorous and spreads the love. Erin Condren: We imagine that a day with Erin Condren would be a whole lot of fun…because that’s exactly what her personalized paper goods inspire. The quality is really top-notch, but the designs make you want to smile. If your handwritting is a bit messy, try her folded notes from the Taffy Collection. The front stripe is personalized as you’d like, with a matching envelope and return address labels, available in a traditional rectangle or circle (our pick). If you want simple flats, you can’t go wrong with the Gumdrop or Confetti notecards. To see more goods, visit www.erincondren.com.
Avie Designs: Cheerful and modern, with a slightly retro vibe is how I would describe Avie Designs. Many of their prints are geometric, playing with symmetry. Our personal pick is The Birds & The Trees set, which are too cute to resist. Printed on 120lb paper, the orange and green design is printed digitally and handmade into a card. Another option? The pleasing Circular Flower flats, available in orange and red. We love the harmony and order of the print. For more info, visit www.aviedesigns.com.
Iomoi: Iomoi is a line that I’ve admired for a long time. They are very well-received by the press season after season and there’s a reason for it. The paper is medium in weight (but sturdy), while the designs are quirky and sophisticated. The Custom Stationery is worth the purchase. The personalized eggshell flat cards are adorned with your choice of icon, style type and monogram. We like the Crown French Blue, Orange Seaweed and Sand Dollar Pattern Sky with the Elegant Sans Serif or Fashion Uppercase type. They’ll arrive with matching envelopes, lined in Iomoi’s signature pattern, and an elegant chocolate brown box. For more info, visit www.shopiomoi.com.
Cake & Milk Paperie: Inspired by vintage elegance, Cake & Milk Paperie creates colorful paper goods that anyone will covet. (You can read our full review here.) If you’re looking for something a bit precocious, the I Can Write flats are a good choice. Trace your thanks like a kid! Want something more grown-up, but still cheeky? Try their Everyday Ribbon Notes, where your thanks can be voiced in phrases like “I’m just ticked pink” or “Moo chows grassias.” The cards are handwrapped in satin grosgrain ribbon in colors like Robin’s Egg or Hot Strawberry Jam. We are simply obsessed. To view the entire collection, visit www.cakeandmilkpaperie.com.
Whimsy Press: The name says it all, doesn’t it? We’ve written about Whimsy Press quite a bit in the past, so we don’t get into too many deets here. Anyway, while they make gorgeous cards for all occasions, we picked out some of our favorites for expressing your gratitude. From their Occasion Card collection, try these: You’re Swell, Overcome or Any Sweeter? cards. They feature cupcakes, rainbows and puppies, oh my! We’re also fond of their Note Card Packs, particularly Branching Out and Snow Birds; they’re elegant, yet fanciful. To view more designs, visit www.whimsypress.com.
