Holiday Gift Guide 07: Domestic Goddess

If you have a friend or family member who is obsessed with entertaining, cooking or anything domestic…this is the guide for you. We’ve carefully selected fabulous gifts that will please any domestic goddess – and that she’ll use year-round:
ONE. Honey is a staple in every kitchen because you can use it for so many things – from adding sweetness to a cup of tea to drizzling over artisan bread. Take it to the next level with the American Honey Flight ($72), available at Violet.com. Nine distinct regional honeys are housed in glass vials, hand-corked and sealed with bees wax. A oak display block and gift box complete the set. Just think of how much sweeter your life could be (since your domestic diva can whip up delish dishes with this!).
TWO. Any true hostess will tell you she can never have enough glasses, and she can never have enough platters. Glasses can be tough to gift, but this stunning porcelain platter ($163) by Dibbern will be the perfect accent to just about any domestic diva’s lineup, whether she’s ultra-modern or classic chic. Add a gift set of self-blooming tea and we guarantee you’ll be on her permanent guest list.
THREE. This holiday season, C.O Bigelow is offering Lemon Blends, which is a limited edition collection comprised of deliciously scented soap & lotion caddies. Perfect for your favorite hostess to use when she cleans up, each is formulated with deliciously fragrant fruit extracts to moisturize and to delight the senses! They are offered in 3 scents, including: Lemon & Mandarin, Lemon & Lime Blossom and Lemon & Pomegranate. Each retail for $22.50 at Bath & Body Works stores.

FOUR. For the gourmet chef, a stylish apron is a fitting present…and the handmade aprons by WHOSIEPIE ($30) fit the bill. We’re particularly enamored with the Lotus and Sky Apron, which features a wonderful Amy Butler lotus fabric. The red and ivory hues are offset by a sky blue ruffle at the hem. She can twirl this around the kitchen when prepping for a party – and if guests happen to arrive early, she’ll still look impossibly chic.
FIVE. In our opinion, candles are one of the best items to give. Few “splurge” on candles since they’re considered a luxury (it’s sad, really)…but we consider them a necessity for any home or desk. The Jennifer Grove soy candles ($38) have a burn time of 60+ hours and lead-free wicks. Packaged in glossy white box with mint green lid and black grosgrain ribbon, they also are incredibly fragrant, easily dispersing their delectable aroma through a room when lit. Though available in 6 scents, we’re partial to the Fresh White Floral Bouquet, which is a clean combination of tuberose, gardenia, magnolia and jasmine. BONUS: Enter “DailyObsession” at checkout for 40% off until 12/31!
SIX. Every domestic diva wants to impress when she entertains, so gift her the Impressionable Dipping Dish ($19). Created by artist/ sculptor Mary Judge, the dish’s deepening impressions are formed by graduated waves. The dish’s spectacular artistry is fulfilled when it’s filled with olive oil, demonstrating the various shades and depths. It’s perfect for serving with a basket of artisan bread at a dinner party!
