Marion CotillardAngelina Jolie & Brad Pitt

The SAG Awards may be the last red carpet event of the award show season due to the WGA strike, so last night, all eyes were on the celebrities’ fashion choices. My favorite looks of the evening were mostly elegant and simple in design. Marion Cotillard looked stunning in Nina Ricci, looking almost ethereal. The gown was so gorgeously pleated and gathered, complementing her body perfectly. I also adored Angelina Jolie’s flowy chiffon Hermès dress. I recognized the unique print and loved how she accessorized–with gold hoops and a gold cuff, a custom piece that Brad Pitt commissioned to be made, based on a drawing by their son, Maddox.

America FerreraCate Blanchett

America Ferrera was dazzling in a lacey gray dress from Monique Lhuillier. I love the lace across her shoulder with a brooch. The fit of this dress was perfect for her curves, and her makeup and hair were beautiful! Another perennial red carpet stunner is Cate Blanchett–her fashion risks pay off, and she carries off dresses that no other celebrity could. She looked beautiful and glowing in a strapless Balenciaga with flawless, natural makeup.

Ellen PompeoVanessa Williams

Ellen Pompeo chose a lovely champagne-hued gown from Nina Ricci that she first spotted in an issue of Vogue. Her hair was elegantly swept in an updo and is a vast improvement over her previous red carpet hairstyles. My favorite bright color of the evening was Vanessa Williams’ yellow Escada dress. A simple black sash and that little bit of leg showing were perfect to show off her amazing body. The yellow was just the right shade to be eye-catching, yet not screaming for attention, as was the case with most of the other bright hues seen on the carpet.

Other notable looks included a slew of blues and teals–Kyra Sedgwick in a cobalt blue L’Wren Scott, Amanda Bynes in bejeweled Marchesa, and Marcia Cross in a teal Monique Lhuillier.

We were less than impressed with some other trends seen on this red carpet, particularly tiered dresses and too much red! Both have been done in 2007, and we want to see something new and fresh this year. Hopefully, the writers and producers can reach a fair agreement soon–and we can look forward to Oscar fashion.

Ah, I actually hated Angelina’s frock. It looked like a hot mess and the colors were terrible for winter when you could’ve opted for fresh spring colors or rich winter colors.

I absolutely loved America Ferrera’s look. I want that dress!! Monique, if you’re reading – call me!

I loved America, too! The dress was perfect for her. My absolute favorite was Marion Cotillard, though.

I disagree on Angelina’s dress, I thought the brown/bronze/gold combo was incredibly rich. The print was gorgeous! I can’t judge her makeup, honestly, she doesn’t need much to look beautiful.
