Bond No. 9 West Side
Recently I started getting into home fragrances and it’s no surprise that the one of the first places I turned to was Bond No. 9, the perfumery that pays homage in every bottle to this city I love and now call home.
Every time I wear any fragrance by Bond No. 9, I turn heads. I always have people asking me what my fragrance is, and because there are so many in their collection, it’s difficult to stay exclusive to just one. And now I’ve started on the candles. The first that I’ve tried is one of their new fragrances called West Side, which is inspired by the West Side’s long history of music — whether it’s Carnegie Hall, the Copacabana, Broadway or the arts at Lincoln Center. The folks over at Bond claim that everyone who smells this candle will interpret it in its own way – just as music sounds a little different to every ear. To me, when I smell this complex and full-bodied fragrance, I immediately think of dance studios on Broadway – full of energy, festivity, and yes music- like something out of Center Stage. I am also particularly drawn to this scent in the winter; it is cold outside and the vanilla, amber and sandlewood notes give off a great deal of warmth. I can’t quite explain why I am immediately reminded of dancing and joy every time I light this, but then again the science of scent is known to be very complex and very emotional. And if Bond is good at one thing, it is to stir emotions out of the way we respond to their gorgeous scents.
You may not all be lucky enough to live in New York, but now you can bring a bit of the vibrant city to your home. Look for Bond No. 9 candles sold exclusively online at their website and Saks.com.
