CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara

After hearing all the hype (from magazines, friends, fellow bloggers, etc.), I just had to try LashBlast Mascara by CoverGirl. Officially launching this month, CoverGirl claims the LashBlast is “a perfectly matched system that combines an advanced volumizing brush and unique volumizing formula for thick, full dramatic lashes.”

When I finally saw a tube of LashBlast in person, all I could think was “Wow, this mascara is fat.” Let me explain: the bright orange tube is very round and plump. Actually, it’s kind of cute, but it may take some people time to adjust to the size. The Moldtrusion Brush is made of flexible rubber bristles (a huge plus since I adore rubber bristle wands). I should note that the wand is quite big and stumpy; if you need a comparison, it has twice as many bristles as VolumeExact. It took me a few tries to learn how to utilize the brush properly, especially after a long run of MaxFactor Lash Perfection. That said, the brush worked brilliantly when it came to separating and helping lashes achieve volume.

Easy to wash off at the end of the day, the formula is free of smudges and clumps, even after three or four coats. You can get some serious length and volume with LashBlast; lashes look lush and long, but not overtly so. For the girls who like more natural-looking lashes, but want to step it up at night…this is the mascara for you. (You’ll get DiorShow-like results.)

All in all, this is a fantastic mascara for under $8. It is available for purchase at Drugstore.com.

How well does it hold a curl? My gripe with Diorshow was that it made my lashes all straight again after I curled it to perfection.

Angel – LashBlast doesn’t promise to hold curl, but it doesn’t really deflate your lashes. However, you definitely need to use your eyelash curler. If mascara tends to weigh down your lashes in general, just wait until your mascara to dry and re-curl.

I, too, had to see what all the hype was about – especially when I saw the before and after photo on The Makeup Girl. I wasn’t as wowed by this (I seriously thought it was going to change my life); I feel like I get the same results from my L’oreal Original Voluminous that I’ve been using for years.

I haven’t given up on it yet, though, I’m going to practice a little more to see how it goes before I put the big orange tube away forever… :)

Hmm… I just found out about this mascara of yours. Personally, I’ve never used mascara but I am interested in trying this Lashblast of yours. Where do they sell it?
