Dorothy Lee
I had Dorothy Lee’s website bookmarked for several months now (sadly, this is not unusual) and finally got around to writing about this standout designer.
Ms. Lee has some serious fashion credentials: degrees from UC Berkeley, Central Saint Martins and Parsons, along with design stints at Chanel and Peter Som. Quite impressive, isn’t it? Based in Los Angeles, Lee launched her first eponymous collection this past fall and I’ve been keeping an eye on her pieces ever since. Her combination of elegant lines, feminine details and a playful air is captivating. Lee draws inspiration from “vintage heirlooms, turn of the century magazines and even origami style paper flowers.”
One of my favorite pieces thus far is the beyond spectacular Washed Silk Blouse with Silk Chiffon Origami Floral Detail in Ecru. From the back, it looks ultra elegant and frankly, drop dead gorgeous. You’re bound to break some hearts in it. For more work appropriate choices, try the Striped Jacquard Tie Front Blouse with Ruffled Cap Sleeves for an unexpected dose of ladylike quirkiness. I’m also pretty enamored with this entire look. Polished, but still girly and fun. I’m also anticipating spring with Lee’s easy, breezy Block Silk Cotton Blouse, Ruffle Front Knit Tank Dress, Tiered Hem Blouse and Cinch Back Cardigan.
The conclusion: the clothing from Dorothy Lee could become an addictive (and expensive) habit. To find out more info about the line, visit dorothy-lee.com, or click below to view the Spring 2008 collection.

I am loving this designer!! I wish I could figure out the name of the headpiece she’s showing with her holiday collection. The thick black band with crocheted flowers on the side. Perfectly modernized flapper.
