Glow with Bioelements
Last week I was treated to a really nice facial at one of New York’s best clinical skin centers: Glow Skin Spa. As a clinical spa, the professionals at Glow take skincare very seriously. It’s not your average day spa quickie facial; this place promises to make your skin, well, glow. Though this spa offers a wide range of products and services, it is also the Bioelements flagship spa in NYC, so I went for one of their signature facials.
To me, Bioelements means serious skin care. Its minimalist packaging reflects the product’s clinical nature. There are no frills or extras, only the basic and important ingredients to take care of your skin. It also offers a wide range of products for all different types of skins including products that can be custom mixed to suit your unique conditions. At Glow Skin Spa, they do just that. First, they profile your skin and then, they mix the right ingredients together to give you a truly custom facial.
I enjoyed my visit from the minute I stepped in. I was immediately offered my choice of beverage before I even sat down to fill out the obligatory survey. As soon as I was done, I met Jillian, the spa owner who gave me a brief introduction to the space as well as the services. I also met my esthetician Marjorie who was phenomenal! (They are pictured with me above).
My treatment room was very large and comfortable and once again, I was treated to a heated bed. What I loved about this facial was that Marjorie explained everything she did and every product she put on my face. I asked her to guide me through every step (of course, I could’ve requested a quiet facial if I wanted) so I could learn more about the Bioelements line. I was really impressed (especially as she talked about products that would make extractions less painful). To be honest, my extractions really did seem at least 50% less painful! The Signature facial included a full cleaning, exfoliation, extractions, thorough moisturizing and a custom mask. Because all the Bioelements products complement each other, I was really able to see the difference a whole regime makes. Though I left the facial a little red and splotchy, my skin cleared up the next day and has been looking great since. A week later and I still feel like I can get away without makeup!
Since I had such a great experience at the spa, I decided to keep up my Bioelements routine at home. I had received a thorough education of the line and was lucky enough to leave with a ton of custom products. Ever since, I cannot stop raving about their basic facial lotion: Absolute Moisture. It is a truly scentless facial cream that is very light yet very moisturizing. Thought it feels so effective, the cream is actually non-comedogenic (which I absolutely needed since my old cream was clogging up my pores.) At Glow spa, your esthetician will custom blend ingredients that are tailored to your skin directly into your moisturizer. My tub of Absolute Moisture contains a clogged pore inhibitor as well as a Vitamin K blend. I’ve been using it every day since the spa and my skin is smooth and nourished as ever. I’m obsessed!!
All in all, this was a great experience — a great way to learn about Bioelements and actually see it work at a beautiful, high tech spa. I would recommend Glow Skin Spa on its own even outside of its Bioelements treatments, but why do that when you can get 2 great things at the same place?
