Skin Tint
I’ve never really been a huge fan of cheek stains in the past, but the Skin Tint ($28) by Smashbox has changed my mind. This water-based cheek stain comes in a stick that is neither leaky, messy or goopy — a problem with many cheek stains in my opinion. Containing soothing aloe and enchinacea, as well as vitamins A, C and E, just run the stick over the apples of your cheeks. Depending on the hue and desired effect, you can use a lighter or heavier hand when applying. Then, gently blend the color with your fingers into the desired area. Really simple, but it’s 100% mess-free. The color also doesn’t completely disappear after blending (another issue with many stains). The result is a natural flush that makes you look glowy.
I tried this in two colors: Lit and Ultraviolet. Lit is a shimmery neutral pinky brown hue in the stick, but goes on as pretty peachy bronze. It’s very natural and would be perfect in the summer. However, Ultraviolet is the color that I really adore. It looks like a deep red, but when it goes onto skin, it transforms into a sheer berry hue. Once blended, it gives you the most lovely blush.
Bonus: You can also use the Skin Tint as a multi-purpose product; in other words, feel free to swipe the color onto your lips as well. I like to take a clean lip brush and dab it on for precision. For select hues, you could also use it as a highlighter.
