New York Fashion Week AW08: Monique Lhuillier

Monique Lhuillier’s bridal and eveningwear collections are always stunning, with intricate beading and laces and delicate, feminine silhouettes. Her designs are usually among my favorites on the red carpet and I was very much looking forward to this show. It didn’t disappoint me–just very pretty, lovely, and shiny. Working with a neutral palette, she designed sharp cocktail dresses and dramatic floor-length gowns. Models were made up with super smoky eyes, with hair pulled away from the face with black headbands. My favorite looks included a flowy strapless black gown that moved like wisps of smoke, and the fiery draped column that was the last look of the show.

I am absolutely infatuated by the smoky taupe V- neck with the beaded skirt. Wow. She’s outdone herself again.
