Sweet Alhambra

For Spring 2008, NARS Cosmetics created their Shanghai Lily Collection, which was developed with the idea of “the ultimate dichotomy of innocence and seduction” in mind. In this collection, wildly popular shades like Dolce Vita, Belle de Jour and Orgasm were launched into new forms – glosses, lip pencils, etc. — but what captured my eye was the Alhambra Duo Eyeshadow ($32). After trying the palette, I’ve become enraptured.
First, it should be known that I’m kind of obsessed with gold shadows. It is my neutral. You will catch me using a gold shadow at least 4 days out of the week. I will never travel without at least one shadow and if I should accidentally leave it behind, I would go and buy one. The two shades in the Alhambra Duo Shadow are described as a “metallic rose mist and golden champagne.” The pigments are strong and true to what you see in the palette. The shimmering golden hue is gorgeous and would pair beautifully with a navy liner. I could wear this everyday! But I’m truly impressed by the iridescent pink color. I’m not normally a fan of pink shadows, but this hue has converted me. It’s the palest pearlized pink (without being frosty) that gives your lids a lovely glow.
