Hello Heatherette!

Beauty lovers around the world have been anticipating MAC’s Heatherette Collection for months - and it’s finally launched this week! I attended the press presentation with the adorable design duo Traver Rains and Richie Rich in early February (the fab girls at Specktra and makeup loves me have photos!) and been holding onto these goodies ever since. Well, guess what? I’ve finally been given the green light to share.

As you all know, Heatherette is known for their fun, bold and sparkly designs - and their makeup collection for MAC reflects their aesthetic. It’s a collection filled with bright colors, glitter galore and loads of personality. However, it’s surprisingly very wearable! I’m going to highlight my faves:

I’m not a big liner girl in general, but I’m quite taken with several of the Dual Edge Eye Pencils ($16.50). They might be the sleeper hit of the collection. Take the Nighthawk/ Front Row combo; this color duo is composed of an everyday coffee brown, along with a beautiful neutral peach that is flecked with gold glitter. I’ve taken to lining my eyes with the peach side for day - and it gives my lids an unexpected flash, yet work-appropriate. I’m also a huge fan of the Black Funk/ Pop Blue, as well as the Fab Orchid/ Dash Lily pencils. The former is a “true black and turquoise with silver glitter,” while the latter is a “jewel-tone purple and a mid-tone lavender with silver glitter.” At night, I’m layering these together for an intensified look. During the day, you can use the creamy, darker colors since they’re quite subtle - or use the glittery side with a neutral shadow to make your eyes pop. If you buy anything from this collection, get these.

Also, I’m crazy about the Beauty Powder ($22). The product is packaged sturdily “in a hot pink compact with holographic foil decal featuring the Heatherette logo,” which is so much fun. The finish is also incredibly soft and silky. It’s totally luxurious to the touch. Smooth Harmony is a lovely bronzy hue that’s perfect for summer, but my favorite is Alpha Girl. This is a bright, sheer pink with a gold pearlescent finish. It will make you look instantly more awake, healthy and glowy. Who wouldn’t love that?

Now, to get the prettiest pout on the block…I like the frosty bubblegum hue of the Lipglass Starlet Kiss! It’s girly and totally reminds me of middle school - in a good way. Sock Hop (also a lipglass) is a lovely mid-tone coral hue that is really wearable and flattering! I’m totally going to rock this one all season long.

Lastly, the Eyeshadow Trios. These are eye shadows housed in “a hot pink compact with holographic foil decal of the Heatherette logo.” When I first received the collection, Trio 1 was the set with which I was most enamored. It consists of the limited edition shades: Mood Ring, Hoppin’, and Cloudburst. Yes, the shades look a teeny bit scary for everyday wear, but trust me, they are oh-so-pretty! The mint green of Mood Ring becomes a sheer wash on eyes and acts as the perfect highlighter for the intense Cloudburst, a black shadow that’s infused with forest green shimmer. Hoppin’ is a fab pale frosty peach that you could use on a daily basis.
