Skincolor de La Mer

When one thinks about Crème de La Mer, most people think about the legendary facial moisturizer. Truth be told, though I tried the cream years and years ago, I don’t remember it totally working for my skin. Their specialty SkinColor line, however, is quite another story. I’ve been totally enamored with La Mer’s Fluid Foundation and Loose Powder.

La Mer’s Fluid Foundation is a truly lightweight formula that does not cake at all. In fact, it simply looks like your natural skin, but better — which is my favorite look. I switched over from my previous Holy Grail foundation, Dior, partially because I felt like that was starting to give me the “I’m wearing foundation” look (and partially because I’ve been using it since college and got tired of it). La Mer’s product actually contains gemstones that capture the light to help your skin give off the same healthy glow that I loved from my Dior foundation, but the total lightweight formulation makes it look much more natural. And of course, from a brand known for skincare, La Mer’s foundation is packed with healthy goodies and SPF.

On most days, I just use the foundation alone, but if I know that I’m going to be out for a while, I finish up with The Powder. I love it because like the foundation, it is extremely light, yet effective. The other day I was having dinner with Risi-Leanne from Palacinka, and she swore by the same product! This mineral-based powder does a great job of keeping your face matte throughout the day and giving an airbrushed poreless look. However, as it is translucent coverage, I recommend going one shade darker than your foundation.

Like all La Mer products, the foundation and powder are luxuriously priced at $75 and $65 respectively. However, the jars are HUGE and will definitely last you a long time. I’ve been working on mine for more than a month and they still both look full. This is definitely one of my favorite makeup products of the moment.
