Pizzeria Mozza

Pizzeria Mozza might be the hautest pizzeria you’ll ever dine in. If you’ve managed to snag a reservation and dined at this restaurant, it’s probably already on your list of favorite restaurants.
Opened by Mario Batali and Nancy Silverton (of La Brea Bakery fame), it’s a casual, intimate space that’s made for socializing with whomever you decide to dine. The walls are painted in a warm orange (a color that I will always identify with Batali’s famous crocs) and the air will be buzzing with chatter. The restaurant has a traditional dining room, but cozy up to one of the two bars – pizza and wine – for some personalized recommendations from the attentive staff.
With favorable reviews from New York Times, Food & Wine, and Los Angeles Magazine, expect the best of the best. To be honest, I’m not sure where to start. You can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu. To start, try the Arrancine alla Bolognese (one of my personal favorites) and keep your eye out for the Squash Blossoms when they’re in season. And naturally, pizza undoubtedly should be ordered if you’ve made the trip. My last visit involved a Pizza with Prosciutto di Parma, Rucola, Tomato and Mozzarella. Heavenly! Rich, melty and satisfying. But again, I have yet to order an item that I disliked; just pick the most appealing item to you (though this may be a difficult choice). Overall, the food is so delish – and possibly, addictive – that it will make you want to lick your plate.
For those who might be passing through town (or anybody who gets a kick out of seeing celebs), star sightings are not unusual. My last visit involved paparazzi at the door and being seated next to a celeb at the wine bar. Definitely make reservations, as it’s bustling every time I’ve been there – even at 3pm in the afternoon!
Pizzeria Mozza is located at 641 Highland Ave. in Hollywood, CA. Call (323) 297-0101 for reservations or for more information, visit mozza-la.com.
