Spray de Mode

Bumble and bumble is not a brand about the latest trend, but rather, the best products they can create. That’s why you don’t hear about them launching a product every other month. Instead, they launch products only when they are perfected. Most recently, they introduced a new hairspray called Spray de Mode.

Spray de Mode is a result of a Bb. stylist who “craved a quick-drying hairspray that could finish high fashion updos, yet stay flexible enough to shift shape during the course of the shows.” Indeed, Spray de Mode was fully tested at fashion shows (we can attest to this since we saw bottles backstage this past winter during NY Fashion Week). The hairspray is made to be incredible versatile, yet hold style — in whatever form it may be. How is this unique? It’s created from a “unique combo of polymers;” glycerin maintains moisture, while silicone gives shine and protects hair from heat.

This is undoubtedly the best hairspray I’ve tried. First, it doesn’t reek of chemicals like most hairsprays; instead, it has the signature Bb. smell (I don’t know how to describe it, but I love it!). Spray it on and your hair will totally hold its shape, yet still remain touchable. It dries quickly, but won’t leave your hair crunchy or flaky; your hair also won’t feel sticky or flat. That means, your significant other won’t think twice about running their hands through your luxurious locks. My favorite way to use it is: 1) while lifting up a section of hair, mist Spray de Mode into the air towards the roots and 2) tousle with fingers. It builds fantastic texture and volume. Think sexy bedhead.

I always say that hairspray is a must in every girl’s beauty arsenal because you never know when you’ll need it. I’m going to revise that statement and say that Spray de Mode should be in every gal’s beauty arsenal. It’s available in two sizes: 10 oz. ($25) or 4 oz. ($15).

If you need any ideas on how to use this, Bb. has created a special website, SpraydeMode.com, in honor of their newest product – and it has a ton of ideas and tips! We’ve also include some tips from Bb. editorial stylist, Sabrina Michals, below the cut.

1) A flexible hold hairspray with such great memory and brush ability allows for a lot of flexibility and creativity in styling. Spray de Mode is great for product cocktailing. If you want really shiny sleek looking straight locks like what I did for the Glam Fatale and at the Fall ’08 Rad Hourani show, blow dry and flat iron hair. Then use a bit of silicone to add extra shine and then spray a bit of Spray de Mode to break up the silicone in the hair – and impart even more shine and movement.

2) Here’s how to create quick volume and that ever desirable tousled wavy texture sported to the utmost by the Surreal Socialite in under a minute. Start with dry hair, lift hair by 2-3inch sections and let the hair fall through a mist of Spray de Mode. Follow by a generous spray of Bumble Hair Powder (or your favorite dry shampoo) and gently rumple to encourage texture. The look will be very sexy bedhead with a lovely dry texture.

This spray rocks! I love that it adds texture to my fine hair. It really is a styling tool, not just a spray!

This is a fantastic spray! It tames the flyaways perfectly without being sticky or crunchy–way better than their Does It All Spray.
