I don’t know if it’s because Sex & the City will hitting the box offices this month, but I’m very drawn to letter necklaces lately. However, I’m not looking for an exact match to Carrie Bradshaw’s original; instead, I want an updated version…and lucky me, there are plenty of options to choose from!

My first (and perhaps favorite) pick are the gorgeous custom-made word necklace by Poupette. Designer Geri Roucaute will spell out your name (or initials) with delicate, swirly script and deliver you the perfect necklace in sterling silver or 14kt gold (you choose!). And if you’re feeling truly decadent, you can add a little black or white diamond, which will rest on one of the letters. So gorgeous and feminine, right?

If you’re looking for something with a bit more sparkle, I recommend the Little Letters Collection by Alex Woo. Pick whatever letters you want and they’ll be strung together onto a necklace for you. You can also choose between sterling silver, 14kt white or yellow gold — with or without diamonds. The letters themselves are petite and dainty, but they pack a punch strung together around your neck. (Plus, more than a few celebrities have been sporting their own version of this, including Leighton Meester and Taylor Momsen!)

If you’re looking for something vintage-inspired, Delicate Raymond also offers a lovely take on this trend with its monogrammed necklace. Each necklace is engraved with your initial; LA-based designer Michelle Zimmerman found the font from the 60’s. Lastly, the necklace is embellished with a pearl accent. A friend owns this one - and it’s even more stunning in person. It’s truly a wonderful addition to anyone’s jewelry box.
