Lusting for Luxembourg

Andrea Brueckner is a designer that is well-known for her gorgeous bags, so it shouldn’t surprise you to hear that I’m currently lusting after her entire Luxembourg collection. (You should know that celebrities like Jessica Alba are also fans.)

I have been seriously drooling over the Luxembourg Satchel ($685) for months now. It’s a nicely sized leather bag, measuring 17″ x 5″ x 12″. It zips up on the top, with zipper pocket details on the front and edged piping. On the inside, it’s divided into two compartments and a couple pockets. I think it’s very versatile, and would be just the thing to take a boring work outfit up a notch. Though it’s available in a variety of shades and washes, my favorite is…the crackle black patent finish, which is so incredibly glam and would make the absolute perfect addition to my closet. (Can you tell that I really, really want this bag?) Sadly, my bank account doesn’t agree, so…for now, it will have to remain on my wishlist.

Worried about the size? Don’t worry! This bag is also available in a smaller version! A fellow TDO editor thinks the Mini Luxemboug Satchel ($545) looks best in the crackle gray patent; it’s a modern, yet complementary color for the upcoming summer months. It would be perfect for a fun date, or even just dinner with friends. Now, if you’re thinking about dancing or cocktails…skip right to the clutch version of this bag ($375). This has all the basic details of the original, but has a wristlet chain instead of handles. The Clay Crackle Patent or the Distressed Metallic Lambskin would be the way to go if you wanted to add a dose of downtown chic to your outfit. It would pair perfectly with a leather jacket and mini! (Think Serena van der Woodsen.)

Lastly, we can’t forget about the avid shoppers. Indeed, there is a version for you, too! The Luxembourg Shopper ($795) is a taller rendition of the satchel, and instead of a zipper closure, it has a magnetic snap at the top. I would personally choose the Tobacco Washed Cowhide, since the color lends a relaxed, casual feel to an outfit. Throw on a sundress and sandals, go grab brunch with a girlfriend…and shop away!
