About a month ago, I attended the launch of Redken’s latest collection of hair care products: Real Control. I met with Kaz Amor – famed colorist and consultant for Redken – at Warren Tricomi for a one-on-one consultation. Side note: For those who read the gossip sites like PopSugar, you probably remember that Lauren Conrad attended the launch party for the product launch, which we sadly couldn’t attend due to previous commitments. (You can hate LC all you want, but the girl has great hair and that’s probably a huge thanks to Warren-Tricomi.) Ok, back on topic…

Developed for “sensitized” hair, Real Control aims to nourish and restore hair with moisture and shine. The line consists of five products:

- Shampoo – Soft lathering shampoo provides nourishment, smoothing and repair, while gently cleansing hair, instantly detangles the coarsest of hair, leaving locks soft, strong and shine.
- Conditioner – Provides intense nourishment and detangling to dense, dry hair. Hair feels moisturizer, smooth and controlled with a vibrant, shiny finish.
- Intense Renewal - Ultra rich, decadent conditioning cream deeply moisturizes, controls and repairs extremely dense, dry hair. It instantly detangles and drastically improves combability to help prevent breakage. It also delivers ultimate discipline and total texture transformation to the most difficulty of hair.
- Crema Care – Instant nourishing, leave-in treatment can be used daily to give superior discipline, control and manageability to the most hard to manage hair. It smoothes and repairs damaged areas of the cuticle while providing protecting against heat-styling. The contracted cream improves texture and glide, helping to prevent breakage and repair dry, split ends.
- Thermal Resist – Lightweight, leave-in spray repairs, detangles and refreshes heat-damaged hair. This versatile product can be used alone to soften coarse hair or layered with Crema Care to tame and provide intense volume down control. Hair looks and feels strong, health and revived.

Kaz remarked that the best thing about this line is that it’s really very customized. You just need to choose the products that work for your hair. So, I asked Kaz – what’s my magic solution? To note, I have thick, colored straight hair. Flyways are normal and it tends to get a bit dry at the ends – between coloring sessions and daily blowdrying.

He told me that my perfect combo is the Shampoo and Conditioner. After a couple weeks of testing, I will absolutely agree! My hair has never felt softer. I can’t even remember the last time it was so smooth and easy to manage. The shampoo lathers up nicely and leaves hair feeling smooth, even before using the conditioner. The conditioner is developed for “control” over your locks – from relieving puffiness to detangling. Indeed, it delivers on its promises. I ran my wide-tooth comb through my damp locks post-shower and it simply glided through. Quite amazing, since my dry ends usually put up a bit of a fight. Plus, it passed the ultimate test…it’s so good that my product-phobic boyfriend ended up stealing them two weeks ago and has declared that I need to find another set of shampoo and conditioner to use.
