Beauty, SkincareTDO Beauty Spotlight: Organic Apoteke

I first heard of Organic Apotkeke months ago at the Henri Bendel Beauty Breakfast where I also had the chance to speak with Dr. Nitasha Buldeo, founder of the line. Hailing from the UK, this cosmeceutical brand made its stateside debut this year and is one of the most rigorously certified organic line of skincare and body products on the market. Now, as we’re learning more about how much chemicals our body actually absorbs from products (5lb per year according to this study), I’ve been paying a lot more attention to organic and green products.

Organic Apoteke’s line of products are all certified organic and free of a wide range of chemicals. Taking it a step even further, the entire line of products is approved by the Vegetarian Society (you won’t find any horse hooves in your facial moisturizer), all the product packaging is fully recyclable, and many of the raw materials are purchased through Fair Trade.

With that said, I also found this line of products to be very effective, which is, at the end of the day, the most important thing I look for before purchasing a product. Now ladies, there’s no reason to be paying for chemical products when you can get just as great results au natural.

ABOUT THE BRAND: Organic Apoteke is the brainchild of chemist and MD, Nitasha Buldeo, who set out to create the purest line of skincare available. The work actually started in South Africa with her grandmother, who combined curative Indian plants from her garden with South African flowers, herbs and spices to use as skincare. Inspired by her natural ways, Buldeo spent almost a decade with a dedicated team of physicians, scientists and Ayurvedic practitioners to develop this line – combining her grandmother’s natural ways with 21st century scientific know-how.

The line currently spans both face and body care products, and I’ve been lucky enough to try samples from both. The facial products are divided into two ranges: the Rejuvenating Range and the Active Range. The Rejuvenating Range is a good daily upkeep and anti-aging line that nourishes, moisturizes and improves the skin’s tone and texture. The Active Range is made for those who tend to be oiler and are breakout prone. This range deeply cleanses, hydrates and balances.

The body care comprises of the Citrus and Lavender ranges, which all provide full range moisturizing care. A new range of Rose scented products are coming soon.

STAND OUT PRODUCTS: I first fell in love with this line when I tried the Citrus Body Hydrate Oil at the Beauty Breakfast. Even though I try to use body moisturizer, I usually go weeks without it on end – mostly because of the hassle of having to rub everything in and then awkwardly waiting around for product to absorb/dry before getting dressed. I didn’t have this problem at all with Body Hydrate Oil, and it felt soo luxurious going on. It is a non-greasy, almost dry oil that absorbs instantly and leaves no residue on clothes. Plus, the scent is amazing and an instant pick-me-up. I applied it few times on my elbows and it took care of all my dry winter skin. I swear, I could not stop putting it on.

Next, I tried a line of Buttermilk Products from their Rejuvenating Range and became a huge fan of their cleanser and face cream. Just simply putting the product on my face felt so nice, leaving it feeling very comfortable and moisturized (with no stripping). My skin is oily on top and dry underneath – both the cleanser and moisturizer addressed the dry problem without aggravating my oil glands.

OTHER GREAT FINDS: Droseros: What an essential for the summer! Remember that Evian face mist? Well, this is like that but so much better! Packed with essential nutrients and vitamins, this product tackles sun damage, fatigue and dehydration all in one go. Especially as it starts to get hotter and more humid here in NY, this will become an essential. And naturally, this is okay to use over makeup.

RECOMMENDED FOR: Seriously, for all you lucky gals in NY, I advise that you run to Bendel’s and try this line of products. I recommend it for everyone – not just those in need of anti-aging or anti-acne products. And of course, their range of body products is appropriate for everyone regardless of age.

i’m so glad someone has taken the time to review this “FAVORITE!” of mine.

I am fragrance sensitive and performance oriented, so when I find a face cream that addresses both of these concerns I am such a very happy consumer!

I had the opportunity to try this line last week while in NYC on business. I found it at the Henri Bendel store and was so excited to find a great organic skin care line. I am even planning adding it to our selection of products in my boutique.
    Thanks for the information!

I received this product as a gift from my husband, I’ve had problem skin all my life but this range definitely works!! I know think that it must be the chemicals in the other products that I’ve used that damaged my skin, best thing is, my hubby loves it as well!!!
