My mom used to give me her “Bonus Gift” bags to play with when I was a little girl, my first memory is playing with her 80′s blue and green Clinque eyeshadow and painting my lips with Black Honey lipstick, a color I still love and use to this day!
How I loved Twilight Mauve eye shadow – wore it every single day of 10th grade and beyond……many years ago….and now I have a 15 year old daughter who uses the 3 step program and tinted moisturizer…..but miracuously, I am not a day older.
Amy, you said exactly what I was going to say! My mom also gave me the gift-with-purchase bags to play with when I was a kid. I always looked forward to those, and in that way Clinique played a major part in making me the heavy-duty makeup addict that I am today!
I think all of us got the gift bags from our moms! I first got addicted to the quickliner for eyes in 7th grade. I still use it today along with a bunch of their other products!
Last July I had been pining for a new concealer but was a) low on cash, and b) I’m kind of… cheap, for lack of a better word. One day I stepped into one of the Sephora’s in my city to see if anything would appease me.
Of course I was looking for something the right shade, not cakey, and easy to use. After about 30 minutes of trying on over-priced, over-oily, and overly-messy concealers, I found myself at the Clinique counter ooh-ing and aah-ing at the Airbrush Concealer. FINALLY! My wish had been granted and I was thoroughly thrilled with the product, easy to apply and very nicely priced I was immiediately smitten with the product and everything else about the brand!
My love affair with Clinique has continued from then as they make perfect pick-me-up presents to myself without breaking the banking and I’m pretty much in love with every single product I’ve ever gotten from them. Truly one of the best brands on the market.
I was introduced to nude lips via Clinique’s “creamy nude” shade in high-school–it remains one of my faves to this day!
I remember the first “real” fragrance I owned was Clinique Happy. I used to spray it around my room in middle school and high school, just so it wouldn’t smell like a funky teenager in there. My mom told me that a few weeks ago her and my dad walked by a Clinque counter in the mall, and he said “It smells like Carrie Lea’s old bedroom”
I remember spending hours at the Clinique counter with my best friend in highschool. We loved getting makeovers and used the 3 step skincare program religiously. I’d love to give the brand another try!
I always loved the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. In junior high, after a play, I remember a friend of mine introducing me to it after we managed to scrub off all of our pancake makeup! Soon after that I saved my money to buy a black honey lip gloss at the counter, and got a gift bag with a baby dramatically different lotion for free! I love it when I have a full size and a mini size of my favorite product, and to this day I love getting the gift bags and getting the baby sizes of all my favorites.
My mom used to give me the bonus gift bags whenever she shopped at Clinque. I loved to play with the mascara and blush.
The first makeup I owned was from the Clinique “free gift with purchase” my Mom got with her moisturizer purchase. She gave it to me for my thirteenth birthday, and it wasthe coolest present I erver got. It came in a green and white striped bag that I STILL use for a make up bag at home!!
I now save all my GWP’s for my 9 year old in a big box to give her when she turns 13!
I remember Clinique in high school…my mom thought it was too expensive so I used to save all my babysitting money to buy the products. :)
Sneaking through my grandmother’s makeup drawer where she would also hide her Peppermint Patties. I came for the Patties, stayed for the cream blush. It was amazing. She always had the Dramatically Different lotion on her dresser, too. The big size. It’s a comforting smell.
I remember my first sample of the clinique dramatically different lotion. I haven’t been able to switch ever since that discovery about 10 years ago!
Clinique was my first “grown up” skincare.
I loved the special bar of soap and how the toner in the blue bottle made my face tingle. It’s an iconic skin care and makeup line.
Many years ago, I was a kid with acne. I went to the Clinique makeup counter to get a free makeup application. The saleswoman saw the pimple budding from the tip of my nose and said, “I have just the thing for you.” She applied Clinique’s Acne Solutions Emergency Gel to my nose and then did my makeup. The next day, the bump on my nose had gone down. I was overjoyed and my Mom purchased the Clinique gel for me soon after.
I was introduced to clinique through my step-mother when I was 10 years old. She always made a point to take care of her skin and used everything from Clinique. So later on when I started doing the same thing, she took me to the macy’s counter and brought me a few products that was for my skin type…not all step-mothers are bad…
I’m 32 and look like I’m 26..not bad!!
Hmmm – my first Clinique memory would have to be in high school, in the early 80′s. Clinique was one of the best companies offering bonus gifts, gifts with purchase, etc and because our makeup dollars had to stretch (we were teens afterall), Clinique was a definite must-stop-and-see (and BUY) counter at the stores — still love it after all this time!
My Clinique memories include watching my mom us the products while growing up. But also when I received Clinique Happy for my birthday. I love still love the smell. It takes me back to my younger days.
In early high school, the most outrageusly fashionable girl left us in the cosmetic dust when she pulled a stick of Black Honey Almost Lipstick out of her pencil case. It was so dark … yet so sheer … Within days the entire class came down with a case of pinky red sheer lips.
I have terrible fragrance allergies, but I went through a whole Clinique Aromatics Elixir phase because I thought it made me “smell mature”. I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup, but there was some kind of fragrance loophole. I think my mom figured if I was silly enough to put myself through allergy hell, that was my problem!
When I was in the awkward middle school transitioning to high school, my dermatologist aunt gave me an assortment of makeup since neither she or my younger cousin used it. It was full of various products, but the majority was Clinique. I didn’t think much of it then but nowadays I realize how generous and sweet this act was. Great memories with great products.
My first “grown up” make up was a clinique almost lipstick. It was such a thrill to go up to the counter and play around with the goods!
i remember being little and always seeing my mom’s facial bar soap on her bathroom counter wishing she would let me use it!
The first time I tried Clinique (other than fragrances) was freshman year of college — about 6 years ago. My roommate suggested that I try one of their eyeshadows, it was called Apricot. To this day it’s my go to daytime shadow!
My very first purchase from Clinique was their fabulous Clarifying Lotion, way back in high school, when I needed all the help I could get! I still use a ton of their products – it’s the one brand I always come back to.
My mother is highly allergic to most makeup, and Clinique is the one product she can use. I remember starting out my makeup odessey using the Clinique 3 step system. I currently adore the Black Honey lipgloss, and use it almost every day!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Clinique was the first cosmetics line my mother allowed me to wear. I loved, loved, loved the original touch base for eyes and sugar plum lips. I thought I was smokin’ hot! …Still do.
My first Clinique encounter was when –thanks to a major raise I got — I decided it was already time to start taking care of my skin, I bought the soap, the dramatically different lotion, and a tonic. Even tough I never bought the soap or the lotion again, I am still using the lotion every once in a while!!
For my 15th birthday, my mom took me to our local mall and told me I could get a makeover, my first experience with makeup actually, from any counter that I wanted. I immediately headed over to the Clinique counter! I was so drawn to their beautiful packaging I knew it must be something special. I have been a Clinique fan ever since!
Like so many, my first Clinique memory is of the 3-Step Skin Program….before i was allowed to use makeup, my mother took me to the Clinique counter in 7th grade. Once I proved I could take care of my skin for a year, she slowly allowed me to start using makeup—and only Clinique!
I did the same with my daughter. :)
To be honest I’ve never had the extra money to play with any of Clinique’s goodies :( I’ve always looked at them and lusted but being on a budget and all really kills the mood. So I guess if I won TDO would be my first experience!
I think the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion was one of the first moisturizers I ever used! I would love to try some of their other products!
My first Clinique memory is smelling the delicious scent of Happy when my Aunt Sylvia wore it. .Ah,what great memories !!
My first experience with Clinique was a couple of years ago when I purchased an eyeshadow duo in “Like Mink” after an in store makeover. Today, I still love and continue to purchase their eyeshadows as well as their skin products.
My ex-boyfriend bought “Happy Heart” for me several yrs. ago. My affair with the perfume continues. That’s more than I can say for him!
My first clinique memory is realllly random. 8th grade, I was at the mall with my good friend and her mom, who was and is a complete Clinique devotee. There was some kind of promotion going on, and maybe there was a French theme going on or something, but the display involved a baguette. It was nearing closing, and so, along with her palettes and gift sets, the associate gave my friend’s mom the baguette to take home!
My aunt used to take me to the mall and when it was free gift time, she’d buy some Clinique and let me have the bonus. It was awesome for little 13 year old me.
My first “Clinique Click” :D that I remember was after I bought my first mascara, it’s the Naturally Glossy Mascara (I still have it!) and I was all ready just to try it out. I was so bouncy and just jolly since I haven’t tried a mascara before. I think I put it on correctly and once I looked in the mirror, I thought my short little thin lashes were the most beautiful thing ever. They made me feel so beautiful inside and out, confident as ever, and I just couldn’t stop fluttering my eyes (never could do it before since you couldn’t see my eyelashes so you would think i’d just be blinking a lot). I had a rocket boost of self confidence. It made me feel wonderful and especially since I was just starting high school where beauty is overly flaunted. That was the best moment ever.
hmm, even tho I use other products as well, I can honestly say i haven’t any derogatory comments on the Clinique line., and have many happy thoughts about Clinique…including their Happy line of perfume! One of my first memories is of being with an older friend who I admired the fact that her facial skin always seemed so moist and soft, despite her age. I remember she pulled out a small sample size bottle of dramatically different lotion and told me that she held the key to that in her hand. she then went on to tell me about their great customer service and how they always had gifts with purchase, and also had some wonderful cosmetic counter help that would do makeovers for you. I would have to say, that word of mouth great reference was what sold me on Clinique… from there I was hooked on their black honey lip gloss, their hair product line, their mascaras, and , of course, their great gift bags and gift with purchase specials! My dear friend has since passed on, but whenever I think of her, I honestly do think of Clinique and see her soft smiling face with dewey youthful skin before my eyes. She was never without her dramatically different lotion, and we always knew what would make her a great gift for any occassion!
I guess my earliest Clinique memory would be as a small child, smearing my lips with my mom’s “Black Honey” Almost Lipstick, and dusting her blush all over my face, then running out to show her how “pretty” I looked. I was quickly sent to wash up.
Several years later, I think I was 13, I told my mom I wanted to start wearing makeup for real. She took me to the mall Clinique counter, and told the friendly makeup artist to give me something “subtle, so Dad won’t notice.” Mollie, the makeup artist, introduced me to some city block, pressed powder, nude blush, taupe eyeshadow, charcoal brown eyeshadow, and naturally glossy mascara. I’ve been wearing Clinique cosmetics ever since.
I have never actually purchased anything Clinique (yet anyways!) but I remember being entranced by the ads in the paper that advertised the free gifts that came with your Clinique purchase. I would constantly beg my mom to buy something Clinique so I could snatch her free gifts!! Sadly that never worked. Now I am reduced to trying the samples that come in my Allure magazine and drooling over the amazing products.
I thought one of the girls in my Girl Scout Troop had perfect skin until make-up removal at a slumber party revealed otherwise. She said she used Clinique to cover her vast blemishes. I was sold! When my lovely little red pre-teen pimples began to surface, I knew where to turn for oil free foundation.
Clinique foundation compact was my first piece of makeup that I bought for myself! I still have the compact, just for memory sake but neverthelss, I love their products and I’m a big fan!
I think the first time I got any makeup of my own was for my junior prom. My mom took me to the counter and I got Tenderheart lipstick and pink eyeshadow :)
My lips are not naturally a flattering color, so lipstick was always somewhat of a camouflage. In college, my ingredient allergies intensified, and I lost the ability to wear lipstick on a daily basis. I saved it for special events, and paid the price – itchy, peeling lips – for the next few days. A few years later, drawn in by Clinique’s hypo-allergenic promise, I warily plunked down the money for yet another lipstick I figured I’d wear once, then banish to the depths of my makeup case. To my great suprise, there was no itch! No peeling! Clinique gave me back the ability to wear lipstick, and made me feel confident about my smile.
My first encounter with Clinique was a tube of lipstick from my mom’s make up stash back in junior high. I loved gliding it over my lips every chance I could get!
My first memory of Clinique was watching my grandmother put on her makeup. I could watch her for hours and those green compacts and tubes would never get old. My grandmother was the one to take me to get my first bit of Clinique. I still use it religiously and always look forward to the smiling face behind the counter in the white coat.

In 1977 I came into a little money after being rather poor so I went into an upscale dept. store and smelled all the perfumes I had never been able to afford. The woman at the counter asked if I would like to try some Clinique products and she was so nice and helpful.
I bought a bagful and I remember feeling so wonderful having soap that was in its own container…I had never had a bar that cost that much ( it was like 4.00) I still love Clinique and never use anything else.
MY first memory was of buying lipsticks at the Clinique counter with my mom and sister. My sister got a heinous purply colour, but i walked away with a gorgeous nude. I must have only been nine or ten, and that lipstick was probably the only makeup I wore that entire year, but I loved it!
I remember babysitting for a family and their 10 year old daughter had Clinique products (samples mostly) that her mom had given her. That’s the first I had ever heard of the company.
One of my first memories is of getting a sample of their Happy perfume in middle school and then getting a lipstick from my step-mother from one of the free-gifts with purchase later in high school.
I started using Clinique in 1971. It was my first department store cosmetic purchase. At that time the GWP were free with any $7.50 purchase!!! The gifts at that time had huge samples in them. The DDML GWP has remained the same size over the years but the eye shadows and blushes are so much smaller. I fell in love with Aromatics Elixir and have worn the scent for more than 30 years. I’ve found with that scent that less is more, just a spritz in front of me and walk through the mist. I have many fond memories of using Clinique products.
I remember how excited was that I was grown up enough to wear makeup (finally). I was so excited about my tinted moisturizer, nude lipstick and light brown eyeshadow. I look back now at it and laugh but iI still love the products in more grown up shades.
The first time I used Clinique, I was about five years old and my mom helped me apply blue eyeshadow for my ballet performance.
Clinique was the first skincare regimen that I used, and I still use it today, after cheating on it for a short time. :)
My first clinique memory was getting my makeup done at a clinique counter for junior year prom! The makeup artist was so sweet, and knew exactly what colors worked well on my skin, and I ended up being one of the only girls who looked *naturally* beautiful at the prom! I am forever grateful to their helpful and knowledgeable makeup artists for my put together look in all my prom pictures!
My first memory of Clinique is when I was in the 7th grade and my mom bought Dramatically Different Moisturizer for me.
In college I was looking for something new for my skin so I went to the Clinique counter and bought the three step program. LOVED it then, love it now.
i had never used a clinique stuffs but i would really love to try it!!! hope i’ll win! thanks a lot!
Clinique was my first skin care line. I remember playing with the little slider board at the counter to see what I should buy. I was in maybe 8th grade at the time. Now at age 41, I’m still a huge Clinique fan!
Clinique is the first department store makeup I ever used. My first experience at a Clinique counter was 10th grade – I was in downtown Chicago with my sister-in-law, I felt so glam:)
I got cake liner!
My first Clinique memory was when I went to visit my aunt in California and she used Clinique products. I tried them and liked them and went to the Clinique counter to get my own.
Ah yes, the Clinique gifts… I remember in middle school, going to Nordstrom’s with my friend and waiting at the counter while she pieced together enough items to get the gift! And I have vivid memories of several of us having those signature bottles of the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, usually hand-me-downs from gift sets. But it wasn’t till I bought Clinique’s City Block 25 last summer that I was really hooked. Now I’m a big fan!
My first make up was a gift with purchase from my friend’s mom…my mom didnt wear makeup (shocking). My first purchase from them was Black Honey lipstick…still love it!
I used to clean houses and one of my customers gave me her free gift…until then I had not heard of Clinique.
My favorite memory is Clinique Happy! Everyone had to have that scent in high school. We even kept a bottle in our lockers to apply in between classes!
I went to the Clinique counter to get my first “grown-up” makeup for my junior prom. It looked gorgeous!
My grandmother always had her LeSportsac pouch in her purse filled with Clinique this and that when I was little. My first try with it was Black Honey lipstick, which my friend with totally different coloring showed me and made me try, too. Loved it! Bought it!
I remember going to the Clinique counter as a high school freshman and buying Almost Lipstick in Ruby Melt and thinking it was very sophisticated and risque!
My first Clinique memory was my brother’s girlfriend who always wore Clinique lipstick. It was called “grape something or other…I forgot the name. After that, I got hooked on Clinique since I have sensitive and all that. I love Clinique lipsticks.
My first Clinique memory was in college when my good friend got me hooked on her glosswear lipgloss in ‘Mystic’. I think I had it in my purse more than she ever did :)
My first Clinique purchase was foundation (the lady “matched” me but it was almost orange on me) and Mystic lipgloss. I loved the lipgloss and bought the foundation anyway because I was too shy back then to say that I didn’t think it looked good.
My first clinique memory dates all the way back to my first makeup application! As a young middle schooler, I was dying to have rosy cheeks and striking eyelashes – dying to learn the tricks of makeup like all the other girls! Finally, my mother came to the rescue and introduced Clinique to me – the brand that she swore by! She sat me down at her makeup mirror, got out her Clinique ensemble, and began to teach me how to use the makeup to enhance my natural beauty from within. She taught me that makeup was to emphasize all that was natural, not to make us something that we are not – and that Clinique was the brand that exemplified this motto. Thanks Clinique and thanks mom! XOXO
My first Clinique memory was when my grandma gave me a pressed powder sample that came with one of those free pouches with a minimum $$ purchase. The color didn’t match her but it matched me and I was entering the “I love makeup” phase of junior high.
It still remains my favorite compact powder…the shade matches me amazingly.
My journey with Clinique began 13 years ago.
My first introduction to Clinique was when my best friend in 6th grade received the 3-Step line from her super-hip mom in order to combat acne and her skin was flawless! I envied her clarifying lotion and the bar of soap in the light green plastic container, while I was stuck with a pot of noxzema borrowed from my dad.
Flash forward to my high-school years, where the chic birthday present for friends of the week was the Clinique bonus presented with a tube of Black Honey almost lipstick. Tenderheart lipstick was the pout painter of choice for all formal dances and the highschool hallways were fragrant with Clinique Happy.
More recently, I knew that when I was in my best friends’ wedding and needed makeup for the big day, the Clinique counter was the only place that would deliver, and they did. Eyes, foundation, lips, cheeks, done and done. While Clinique continues to evolve and offers innovative new products, it still feels good to rely on an old friend that has been there every step of the way.
I remember when my first mom introduced me to skincare by taking me to a Clinique counter. The 3-step routine felt clean and easy to do. Ever since then, I have been trying to take good care of my skin!
Another shout out for the Black Honey lipstick!!
Having grown up in a town with no Clinique counter, I wasn’t exposed to it as early as some. So the Black Honey lipstick was the very first Clinique product I bought when I graduated from college and got my first “real job”.
I still love it, but I am also addicted to the Lash Power mascara and the Superdefense moisturizer with SPF.
When I was younger, my mother always bought clinique black eye liner and plum lipstick! Now that I’m older, I’ve found the best foundation and eye shadow from them. The giveaway is perfect for the summer!
x x fingers crossed
My fav clinique product has been their naturally glossy mascara… I hate mascara that weighs down my lashes. I get a head ache from heavy mascaras…this is the first mascara I found that gave me good natural looking lashes without making me feel like I has something on.
Love Clinique!
This was one of the first “department store” make-ups I was aware of because it was my mother’s favorite. I can remember staring into her make-up drawer and seeing all the small pale green containers all lined-up. And the unique smells of the 3-step products. I could hardly wait until I was old enough to use them! I have a ridiculous collection of GWP bags and cases that have carried me through many a trip. Not to mention, my own collection of pale green containers!
Wow…my first was back in High School. My BFF turned me onto Clinique…and I still use their lip liners…now, If I could only hold onto them…but recently, a friend was at the same restaurant as me, and about a week later, came up to me and handed me my Clinique Lip Liner…I asked her where she found it, and she said in the lady’s room of the restaurant, and I knew it was yours so I held onto it for you! How’s that? I was so happy to get it back!
It seems like I’ve been using Clinique my entire life, but my earliest memory has to be the yellow lotion from the 3-Step Skincare. My mom loves the stuff and the smell of it always reminds me of playing with makeup in her bathroom.
My first brush with clinique is quite memorable.. I had flawless skin in my teens and after a trip to LA ..had a bad attack of adult acne..was looking for a mositurizer to treat this and voila…clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion came to the rescue..had been a fan even since..
Oh, what a blast from the past… 20 years ago when I was 13 and just starting to wear makeup my mother took me to the local Clinique counter so I could learn the proper rules of skincare, concealer, etc…
Not that it kept me from making every mistake in the book, but I will remember how posh I felt being at the DEPARTMENT STORE having a lovely lady fawn all over my face. What a nice thing for my mom to do, and I used that 3-step skincare routine for a good 12 years!!
My best friend used the 3-step line in junior high and I thought she was so sophisticated! she took me on my first trip to the clinique counter and I bought my first lipstick.
I remember buying Clinique Happy for my mom for Christmas back in gradeschool! Every time I get a whiff of it, I think of her!
well my first experience with clinique was with the eyeshadows it was a gift for my mom but it was not her color. So she let me have it and i loved it. I felt so grown up i was only 14 and my mom would not let me wear makeup outside the house only when i was home. So when i would get home i would put so much makeup on.
When I was young, I thought Clinique was the only brand of make-up that existed; my mother would always wait until the GWP was available, then she would buy the same skin care products. I remember thinking that the little bags that came with the GWP were so chic and classy, I would beg her for them so I could keep my crayons and other odds and ends in them.
My first experience with Clinique was when I won a large sum of money about 9 years ago. It was the first place I went. I got a complete make-over and bought every single item they used on me. Since then, I buy Clinque items infrequently but anytime I can, I do. I love the powders, foundations, lipsticks all of it!!
My first memory is of me and my friend Tamarah scraping our money together so that we could buy and share the three step kit. She got the soap and the toner , but I got the moisterizer and most of the goodies in the bonus bag. Life was so simple then, Now I need it all!
When my mother decided I was old enough to wear make up she wanted to make sure that I didn’t ruin my skin with trendy make up that other girls in the 8th grade were wearing so we went to the Clinique make-up counter in the mall. I felt like such a grown up. I still use Clinique a decade later, though I’m now in college so I don’t have as much to spend on make-up, but Clinique is the most reasonably priced brand out of all others you can find at the mall. Thanks Clinique!
This is a concidence because I just starting getting into makeup recently and ran across the Clinique site to look at their makeup. I have heard of Clinique, but have yet to try any of their products in general, but I would love to. Their make up colors look beautiful and I would to at least sample them!
I love clinique! I can’t go anywhere without my lucky penny eyeshadow, and my berry blush buttershine lipstick! what an amazing giveaway – NINE cream eyeshadows! -to say the least. thanks for doing this!
my earliest memories of Clinique are of my grandmother always using their face care & lipstick – when I first started wearing makeup, she’s the one who took me out to buy Clinique lip gloss, blush, eyeshadow.. I wear Happy Heart a lot, & still use tons of Clinique makeup. love it!
To be honest, I have never had the chance to experience Clinique however it is a line of products I been wanted to try for a while. To add, I have heard a lot of positive reviews products and hopefully if I win I will get that chance.
I remeber Clinique being the first “counter” make-up that I purchased. It was affordable, & I got a great gift with purchase.
My first brush with the Clinique counter was at Lord & Taylor, a swanky department store in Washington, D.C. I had just turned sixteen and my dad got the unenviable task of bringing me to purchase my very first makeup. Poor Dad stood by awkwardly as the salesgirl made me over, and then home we went with my bag full of eyeshadows, foundation, and blush. I can still remember clearly the names of my first Clinique colors, and the pure joy it brought me just to open and close the lovely floral boxes that it all came in. Now, thousands of beauty products later, Clinique will forever be my makeup touchstone as a result of that fabulous day with my father 25 years ago.
I remember my first time at the Clinique counter when I got my first “makeover.” Since I was younger, I did not buy any of the products.. This meant that they only made over half of your face. So for the rest of the day at the mall, I had half of my face filled with makeup but the other half completely bare! Nevertheless, I LOVE CLINIQUE!
I collected all the adorable “free gift” bags (collected= stole from my mom..heehee) and kept EVERYTHING in them from my first lip glosses to my polly pockets to my Barbie’s shoes to my colored pencils. I always had the cutest little pencil cases due to Clinique. Then in highschool me and my friend REALLY wanted our makeup done but didn’t know how to ask so we told the clinique ladies that we had sensitive skin and were in the market for some “makeup that had less irritating properties and would like to sample the full line if you may…yes full eye makeup as well…sensitive eyes…you know?” I’m sure they were fooled…especially when at the end we couldn’t afford a thing between the two of us. But they were sweet all the same. :-)
when i was little i lived with me dad and when i went to visit my mom we would always go to the mall and she would buy me one thing from clinique because it was her favorite brand, and now it is one of my favorites too
I had my first “makeover” at a Clinique counter for my 15th birthday. They did me up with all the products, but my mom didn’t want me wearing a full face of make up! I got to come home with some age appropriate natural looking eyeshadow and light lip gloss, though. I felt like a real grown up anyway.
Clinique was the first skincare and make up line I ever used. I was in junior high and my dad bought me the traditional yellow cleansing bar, #2 astringent, and the staple yellow moisturizer. What a great memory. It got me taking care of my skin.
My first memory is playing with the Clinique makeup bags when I was a child. I remember using them as Barbie’s luggage.
My first Clinique memory is using a ton of Clinique makeup that belonged to my best friend’s mom for “makeovers” at a sleepover.
Clinique has such skin-friendly ingredients. I never break out from their products. Thanks for doing this giveaway!
My friends and I all got the 3 step skin care during our last semester at college. We all felt like we had “grown-up” – big time department store products! ;-)
I remember my mom showing me her Clinique makeup. It was the first skincare product I remember using. I also remember that Clinique was the first “gift with purchase” promotion I remember buying. I was so excited. Thanks for sponsoring this.
When I have first smelled Clinique Happy, I never wanted any other perfumes! I use it ever since because the scent invokes light feeling and freshness. :)
My mom gave me Clinique Happy as my First Perfume, and to this day it takes me back to middle school!!
I remember the first time I used Clinque’s soap for oily skin; the container was green and resembled a bed.
It looked great on the vanity and was really easy opening and closing.
Great product
My first Clinique memory was stealthily slathering on my grandma’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion every time I was over at her house. I think she caught on, because she gave me my very own bottle! I still use it, everyday, to this day. I love Clinique!
My mom giving me the “gift” after she bought make-up; holding deep hopes that the three-step skincare set would clear my acne (didn’t).
My first memory is discovering the new Superdefense moisturizer. I was getting close to 30, my skin had begun to change and I was at the last of my rope on how to deal with it. The salesperson was extremely helpful and the moisturizer worked miracles.
A few years ago when Clinique did a major magazine campaign for their new Buttershine lipsticks, my mother fell in love with the insert sample she tried. There is no Clinique counter where she lives, so she asked me to buy her the Perfect Plum color. Of course, an errand like this is no errand to me! What I soon discovered is that they were sold out all over the country. After many phone calls, I finally found a Nordstrom in California that had the lipstick on hold for someone else! They informed me that if I would wait a day the other lady in waiting may not purchase it. Luckily, she didn’t come back for the holy grail of lipsticks and her loss was my mother’s gain. That was years ago, and still every Christmas or birthday I get my mother a Clinique Buttershine lipstick. I try them on and pick her out new colors every once in a while. Her latest fave is Pink Toffee.
My mom used to use Clinique pretty much exclusively, so from the very start I would watch her put on her “office face” every morning. That might have started my love affair with makeup. My first personal experience with Clinique was when I went to visit my aunt in Colorado when I was maybe 12 and she took me to the Clinique counter and asked for the lightest lipstick they had. They put this pale shimmery pink on me and I felt like SUCH a grownup. For my next birthday, she bought me that lipstick and it was my very first lipstick. I still hit the Clinique counters up when I’m feeling overwhelmed by the razzledazzle of Sephora or MAC.
7 years ago my daughter started with the rashes which eventually tested out to be the mercury preservative found in many cosmetics and even meds like Neosporin and Visine. Can you imagine starting highschool and being told you couldn’t randomly experiment with cosmetics? lol She survived nicely after we received a short list of ok brands which included Clinique.
The first time i tried clinique was at macy’s back then it was called marshall fields, I was with my sister and she told me to try on the 3 step skin care because i would break out in the summer. I tried it and i’ve purchased clinique products ever since that one day.
I think it was around 4th or 5th grade when my sister came home with a bunch of Clinique give-aways her coworker had given her. Of course my sisters deemed me too young to use anything, but I always played with the white eyeshadow and the Black Honey Almost Lipstick when they weren’t around. =D
My mother had always refused to buy department store makeup for me – too expensive. When I was 16, I cashed my first paycheck and went to the local department store and bought a Clinique lipstick. I loved that silver tube! It was actually a pretty significant moment for me – my first assertion that I didn’t have to accept my mother’s standards but could establish my own.
When I was in high school, my best friend and her mom used Clinique, but I really couldn’t afford it. When I went off to college, I saved up to get the basic skin care system, and I was hooked.
My very first clinique memory was at my friend’s sweet sixteen birthday party when we all headed over to the counter for free makeovers. I couldn’t believe how glamourous I looked after the makeover, and the ladies at the clinique counter gave us all samples of the clinique sheer lipcolor in black honey. I fell in love with this shade and it became my staple lipcolor for three years straight!!
My friend used to have all the Clinique skin care products and she was the one that had me try them and ever since then I have been hooked.
I had a friend who loved Clinique, and had I never used anything other than drugstore brands, which I wasn’t completely happy with. I dragged my mother to the mall with me and together we completed my Christmas list, and she bought a few things for herself as well. We’ve been loyal customers ever since.
My first clinique memory is when I broke out in middle school so my mom took me to the clinique counter and bought me the 3 piece system lol!
My first Clinique memory is going to the counter and realizing that there was makeup for my eyebrows. I always had well groomed eyebrows after that! It was powder in a mirrored case with a brush. I wonder if they still sell it?
I remember stealing my Mom’s Clinique moisturizer (the yellow lotion) and thinking that I was so grown-up because I was using “make-up”.
I was around 14 or so and my Mom took me to the Clinique counter for skin care products. I was a Type II cleansing bar, Type III Clairfying Lotion and then the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. I felt *so* grown up!
And even more so when she allowed me to pick out an Almost There Lipstick. Like every other woman on the planet, I picked Black Honey and its been love ever since!!
My first experience with Clinique was a sample of the 3 step cleansing kit. I also got a sample of the Black Honey lipstick and I loved it! I haven’t bought any products yet, but I would love to win some!
I was about 17 and SO excited to finally get my first 3-step kit. We waited until bonus gift time (of course!) so I was stoked with all my little goodies!
I remember working at a Trust Co for several booooring years……….and then fell into a HUGE crush on a customer who I found out liked me. I used to go over to the drugstore across the street at lunch and look at makeup etc. I remember clinique had a beautiful pink lipstick that I loved so much. I thought it suited me, it was such a nice shade. Happiness can be in a lipstick tube if it makes you feel great!
I remember in the 8th grade all my friends started started getting into makeup in general, but the only brand anyone got was Clinique, and i used to always use some of their Air Kiss- the pinkish clear lipgloss. I clearly remember when i finally got one of my own, and my mom bought a lipstick so i could get the free gift! Throughout highschool my friends and i all had one of the makeup bags from the Clinique free gifts in our backpacks at all times (filled with Clinique stuff of course because that was the cool brand)!!
In middle school, I went out and bought a clear version of Clinique’s Superbalm–a big step up from my usual LipSmackers! I felt sooo cool whipping it out of my pocket and putting it on. My mom always used to give me the little bags from the bonus gifts and I would then use them as pencil pouches at school.
My friend first introduced me to Clinique in a middle school birthday gift! She gave me the lipgloss in Air Kiss, I still love the product today!
Just recently–when a Clinique sales associate helped my sister put on eyeliner for the very first time! Also, the birthday when my Mom surprised me with Clinique moisturizer and sunscreen in a care package. I was feeling especially down and it was a great pick me up!
I wanted so badly to start wearing makeup in middle school so my mom took me to the clinique counter and let me pick out powder and a lip gloss. I love the green compacts and am so happy the makeup still is packaged the same way! Definitely brings back memories. I just started using the 3 part skincare routine again, along with city block, and can’t believe I strayed from Clinique for so long.
I remember my mom making a Clinique purchase back when I was in junior high and she got one of those awesome GWP’s filled with products! She was kind enough to give me a lilac/purple eyeshadow duo (it matched a lavender shirt I had!) and some eye makeup remover. That was my first experience with Clinique and I would love the chance to sample some new goodies!!
I remember in high school my best friend and I would steal her Mom’s clinique anything. We’d wear it to school and bring any lip or eye product with us to reapply every half hour. We’d rush home after school and put it back in her Mom’s makeup bag before she’d get home from work and notice. I’m quite sure her Mom knew what we were doing but didn’t seem to care since the stuff always made it back to her makeup bag.
My first Clinique memory is watching my mom use the makeup. She always looked so pretty, and would always put a dab of lipstick or blush on me. I couldn’t wait to grow up so I could use it too.
I’m happy to recall that my first Clinique experience is when my mom drove me to the mall to buy my first blush. Sweetheart was the name of the blush.
my first ckinique memory was watching my mom apply a mix of two foundations to get her perfect shade. i’m not sure which formulas they were, but one was in a tube and one was in a bottle. wow…
The first time I heard of Clinique I was shopping in J B White’s Department store. The make up counter was doing make over using Clinique, so I indulged and feel in love with their products.
Now I’ll be showing my age-when I was in junior high
Clinique was the only “prestige” brand anyone had ever heard of. Every girl in 8th grade swiped her mom’s samples and wore them to school.
My very first memory of Clinique (i have lots of them) must have been when I was about 4 or 5. My Grandmother uses Clinique everything religiously – especially the skin care line. She would give me and my sister her used green soap containers, and we would use them for little hide-away doll beds! When we got older she would give us her GWP bags, and we would have a ball. When we got older still, and were ready to start wearing makeup, my mother took me to the iconic counter, and had the assistant there give me a mini makeover. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. Still love Clinique!
My first experience with Clinique was the 3 step program with the soap in a dish back in middle school. I remember I was really young and therefore did not complete the 3 steps, so my mom never bought it for me again. Now I am religious with my skin care and would complete 10 steps if it made my skin look great. :)
My first memory is going to the counter with friends, and trying to spend “just enough” to get the free gift!
They still have some great products.
First clinique memory… scary nightmarish makeover. 2 years later someone gave me a sample of the turnaround concentrate and now I am addicted. Way to turn things around for me clinique!
when i was about 12-13, my mom took me to the clinique counter so that I could begin a “skincare ritual”. I remember the sliders with the silver knobs that identified whether you were a type I-IV ( I was and probably still am a III). It was the first cosmetic bonding I did with my mother, and even though she has been gone for 12+ years, I still think of her every night when I faithfully cleanse, tone and moisturize :)
[...] Obsession are hosting a Clinique giveaway this week with a total value of $230. Hop on over to TDO to find out how to join. Good luck! addthis_url = [...]
i remember the consensus being that clinique was great but way out of my price range. so i waited way too long to try it! when i finally went up to the counter and asked a million questions i realized this was fully in my price range. everything’s worked so well, i’ve never even considered anything else for skin care.
My first Clinique memory is trying some “dramatically different” moisturizer (and some of the great free samples that came with!) with my best friend in high school.
I remember my friend in middle school using Clinque skin products and how great her skin always looked.
I went into clinique I was 36 weesk pregnant and I felt ugly. Being that my husband was and still is in Iraq at the time I had a little extra money to spend. I bought $300 of stuff and since then have bought another $300. I am now a clinique addict.
I remember I went with my mom when I was 12, I think, and she had the makeup artist to a smokey eye on her (but she wasn’t able to do it because my mom WOULD NOT STOP BLINKING) and I bought a quickliner. Then when we met back up with my dad, as he wasn’t used to my mom wearing eyeshadow, he was like, “WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR EYES, DID SOMEONE HIT YOU?”
I rember when i was 16 my mom took me to clinque to get a makeover. It was awesome then i got a bunch of little samples to go home and play with.
My first experience with Clinique was its ‘Acne Solutions’ Emergency Gel-Lotion, I was having bouts of breakout at that time. After receiving it, I eagerly tried it on, at first nothing happened, but I persisted, then those annoying pimples went away! I was so excited. I kept using to prevent future breakouts, but the tube was rather small so I bought another tube and have been using the product ever since.
I started using Clinique products after taking a skin care class in high school. I wanted fragrance-free facial products at a time when no other company made such a thing. Now with two daughters who are learning how to care for their skin, I’ve turned to Clinique once again. The basic three, soap, toner and moisturizer are all they need for beautiful skin!!!
My first use of Clinique products was when I won a bottle of the dark spot corrector this year. Now I’m hooked. This product, while a little out of my budget, is worth every penny. My skin looks fabulous for an over sixty old broad. Keeping my fingers crossed to win more of this line.

Awww, I remember having lunch on campus in college and my friend and I went to the Clinique counter in the University Bookstore and spent just enough money to get the free gift. Good times.
