Daria Werbowy for Lancome

Back in January, Lancome gave Kristen from Beauty Addict, Susan from My Beauty Berry and myself the unique opportunity to sit down with their spokesperson Daria Werbowy and pick her brain about her then-upcoming color collection that she was designing. I remember this event well. It was a sunny Friday, and I took an extended lunch to meet my fellow bloggers and the ladies of Lancome at the Royalton Hotel. I suppose I didn’t realize until well into the interview what a significant opportunity this was. There was, to boot, a NY Times photographer who snapped photos throughout – one of which found its way into the controversial piece about beauty bloggers that hit newsstands a couple weeks later. But I digress.

Four months after I met Daria and first sampled her work, The Brazilian Earth Collection has finally hit Lancome counters nationwide. This is a collaboration between Lancome and Daria to benefit her work at a Brazilian non-profit organization – Centro Espacial Vik Muniz. Daria was inspired by these youth and her work with them to create a set of makeup for Lancome that both reflected the natural beauty of these Brazilian women, as well as served as a humanitarian tie-in to the organization. Indeed, this range of neutrals brings out the natural-but-better look that seem to come so easily to Brazilian beauties, and each sale donates a portion back to the Centro Espacial.

Now onto the colors…the Daria collection consists of an eye shadow palette, a lipstick and a lipgloss all in gorgeous, earthy tones and have automatically turned into staples in my makeup bag. What stands out to me in the Eye Shadow Quad-Carnet de Velours is the yellow shadow, which surprisingly looks amazing on. It instantly brightens the eye without being bight and sets a wonderful contrast against the the bronze and browns of the rest of the palette. The Color Fever Gloss is a beautiful natural shade that enhances anyones lip color and can be worn with any look. I threw mine in my work bag and have been applying all day! The lipstick I haven’t tried yet, unfortunately, but since the color is so versatile, if the consistency is anything like the Pixel Pink, I already know that I’ll love it. While these colors can definitely be worn year round, I find the summer launch to be especially timely as they do a fantastic job of highlighting and working with your tan. Each piece in this collection is also specially wrapped with Daria’s initials.

Check it out for yourself at Sephora.com and your Lancome counter.
