Louis Vuitton Cruise Preview ’09

This past Thursday, Louis Vuitton invited a select group of bloggers, VIPS and serious fashionistas to preview their 2009 Cruise Collection which will be available to the general public this November. I think many of us forget that Louis Vuitton is so more more than just a line of handbags, and their collection extends into some beautiful ready-to-wear, swim, evening, shoes, jewelry, accessories – you name it. The event was nothing less than amazing and TDO has the pictures to show you what you can expect to see in a few months!
Pictured above and also attending the event were bloggers from The Jet Set Girls, Haute Concept, Fashion Indie and Nitrolicious. That’s me in my new favorite blue dress of the moment. We all gathered at the penthouse at 163 Bank St in the Meatpacking District for an evening of Moet, fashion, and mingling.
I have always loved Louis Vuitton’s RTW so much that it’s fair to say if I could only pick one fashion line to purchase from I may have to choose Louis Vuitton. I have always found the pieces to be extremely feminine, elegant and sophisticated. Totally my style. And Marc Jacobs has certainly outdone himself for Cruise Collection 2009.

The color white is the key theme accented by gold, pale pinks and blues. On the opposite end, Marc Jacobs also offsets his key pieces with pops of bright colors: hot pinks and oranges in shoes and bags.

For this event, the team at Louis Vuitton collaborated with London-based fashion illustrator Tanya Ling. Ling created a series of pieces that offered her interpretation of the collection. Her installments scattered the room at the venue and her painting of the items frequently provided the backdrop for the actual piece.

This Grecian dress was one of my favorite pieces of the night. It looked even more glamorous on the model in Louis Vuitton’s official collection photographs. The color is most amazing and I love the intricate details. Some ladies asked to try on various pieces and if I weren’t afraid that I might ruin the piece, I would’ve been first in line for this.

Lastly, I loved the shoe display. I couldn’t take my eyes off the grey satin platform bow pump. How sweet would that be with a fitted dress or pencil skirt? Maybe if I start my Louis Vuitton savings fund right about now I can spring for them in November.
