Odette New York

When I discovered jewelry line, Odette New York, I couldn’t stop marveling over how gorgeous and unique each design is. Jennifer Sarkilahti, the designer behind Odette, creates playful, modern pieces that you’ll fall in love with easily. Jennifer draws inspiration from numerous sources, noting that “current inspirations include ancient Greek and Roman artifacts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, twigs and seed pods found on a walk through my neighborhood park, and photographs from a recent trip to Bali.” You’ll also appreciate the detailed handiwork and labor that goes into each piece. “Each design begins with a pencil sketch that is then carved by hand out of wax. A mold is formed from the wax and the precious metal is cast and polished,” says Jennifer.
You’ve undoubtedly spotted her Jellyfish Necklace before. It’s a bestseller – and we can see why. You can really see the movement and details of this charming jellyfish. It’s a lovely way to incorporate a bit of whimsy into your day. But that doesn’t mean it is her favored design! “My favorites are the Wave Necklace, the Mighty Oak Necklace, and the wrap-around design of the Snake Necklace,” says Jennifer. Personally, I really adore the simplicity of the Skipping Stones Necklace, which is reversible so you can show off two textures. I’m also a sucker for delicate leaf jewelry, so the Distressed Leaf Necklace easily captures my heart with it’s rustic, elegant nature. I think they would be perfectly paired with a breezy Velvet dress!
However, my very favorite piece is the Bullet Hole necklace. Available in sterling silver or 18K gold, it almost resembles lace or coral. It’s sweet, yet edgy – which makes it perfect to wear through the seasons. If I owned this, I would wear it everywhere! Looks like Jennifer agrees about the versatility of this piece, because she told me, “Lately, I’ve been wearing the Bullet Hole Necklace nonstop with everything. Despite it’s tough name, it’s actually surprisingly delicate and has a nice organic feel to it.”
