Scarves are always an essential in a wardrobe, but lately, they’ve seem to taken off as a trend. You’ve probably seen them on style icons like Kate Moss and Rachel Bilson everywhere. Plus, we’re spotting them on the streets year-round, whether it’s cold and blustery, or sunny and warm. The number of ways that you could wear a scarf seemed a little daunting, so we asked a few experts for their best tips on how to wear scarves – whenever, wherever. (more…)
There are a lot of jeans that I try on and love, but there’s one pair that I’ve been coveting for months. Ever since I first spotted them at Fred Segal, I’ve been wanting to own Paige Premium Denim’s Robertson cut in the Dark Clean wash.
Pretty much everything about these jeans is perfection. They’re soft and comfortable, which is important because as far as I’m concerned there’s nothing worse than jeans that look good, but are so uncomfortable you find yourself dreaming of sweats the second you put them on. They have a medium rise, so they’re not high enough to cut into your torso (SO not attractive) or so low that you have to be careful every time you bend over to pick something up (a new requirement of mine after I accidentally flashed the mailman last week). They also have a trendy wide leg, which looks great with my favorite heels, and the back pockets magically manage to make my butt look better than any of the jeans already in my closet. (I know this from the many times I’ve visited “my” pair and looked at them in the dressing room mirror). The only reason I don’t own them already is that I’m trying to be responsible and ration out my jean buying so I don’t end up homeless one day, with only my extensive denim collection to keep me warm… (more…)
Self tanning is hard enough as is- so why even bother trying unless you’re armed with the best possible products to do so? For the past couple of months, a couple of us here at TDO have been testing out various self tanners available on the market and have narrowed down some of our favorites. So whether you are a tanning newbie or just want to upgrade your product for your next tan, keep reading for what we thought were the best!
1. Clarins Delicious Self Tanner: I have always associated Clarins with some of the finest sun care/self tanners on the market and their newest product does not disappoint. First of all, if you’re going to be smearing something all over your entire body, it might as well smell delicious. And this product with its peach bellini fragrance definitely tops the list. What I also like is that the product is colored and instantly goes on your body in a subtle bronze shimmer. Not only will you truly not miss a spot- but you’ll look tan instantly- and hours before the product actually does its job.
2. Clinique Touch of Bronze Moisturizing Body Lotion is perfect for those who prefer their tanning process to be slow and steady. It takes a few days to build up a light tan but you won’t be surprised with a too-dark color right off the bat. Since the product builds, it is more forgiving of mistakes each individual time you apply. Since this is almost more of a body moisturizer than a self tanner, it’s appropriate to use on a daily basis. In fact some of my friends have replaced their after shower moisturizer with this Clinique product and have loved the glow in their skin. (more…)
I find summer to be a weird season as far as foundation goes. It’s the perfect time to switch to a lighter coverage makeup, like a tinted moisturizer, but even though I have a few favorites, sometimes their coverage is a little too sheer for my liking. I’ve tested a few different foundations recently, and my new pick for this summer is Smashbox’s High Definition Healthy FX Foundation.
I love the coverage this foundation gives my skin; it hides blemishes and evens out my skin tone without looking too heavy or obvious. Besides the look it gives me, the formula is also full of anti-aging ingredients like Vitamin C, and has a UVA/UVB SPF 15 to protect your skin (so important!). It also contains a natural corn extract that renews your skin’s appearance to give you a fresher looking complexion. Who doesn’t want that? The foundation even has a patented bio-delivery system that time releases moisturizing and firming benefits so your skin keeps looking good throughout the day, not just in the morning when you apply it. To prolong your flawless face even more, I suggest applying Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer before you smooth on foundation. You’ll have a supermodel’s complexion in no time!
High Definition Healthy FX Foundation retails for $38 and can be found online at Sephora.com.

This past Thursday, Louis Vuitton invited a select group of bloggers, VIPS and serious fashionistas to preview their 2009 Cruise Collection which will be available to the general public this November. I think many of us forget that Louis Vuitton is so more more than just a line of handbags, and their collection extends into some beautiful ready-to-wear, swim, evening, shoes, jewelry, accessories – you name it. The event was nothing less than amazing and TDO has the pictures to show you what you can expect to see in a few months!
Pictured above and also attending the event were bloggers from The Jet Set Girls, Haute Concept, Fashion Indie and Nitrolicious. That’s me in my new favorite blue dress of the moment. We all gathered at the penthouse at 163 Bank St in the Meatpacking District for an evening of Moet, fashion, and mingling. (more…)

You may have already read my rave about the Soap & Paper Factory‘s amazing scented beauty products in the first part of my review. Now I’d like to share their covet-worthy home and paper products with you! All of these are available in Soap & Paper’s signature scents and designs: Verbena, Orange Blossom, Rosewood, Green Tea, Fig, and Cinnamon Clove.
Let’s start with the home goods. I love Soap & Paper’s scented candles ($36), made of pure beeswax and hand poured into Italian glass. A cute ribbon is tied around the glass, and the glass is reusable long after the candle has burned out — which will be a long while later, since each burns for 60 hours! The candles are absolutely darling, and the box it comes in is decorated in hand-drawn patterns that depict its scent. Needless to say, I’m already reusing the box! Also for your home, Soap & Paper has made scented drawer papers ($28). Although I’ve seen these kind of papers in various stores, I’ve never really bothered using them. I didn’t see the point of taking the time to paper my drawers with cheesy looking designs and heavily perfumed scents. The Soap & Paper drawer papers are completely different from those you may have seen too–they are printed on recycled paper, and just printed and scented beautifully. Now every time I open my drawers, I smell sweet orange blossoms and get peeks of gorgeously drawn designs.
Soap & Paper has a great collection of paper goods, as well. Ranging in price from $12 to $48, there are collections of wrapping papers, note cards, thank you notes, stationery collections, and scented stationery. The scented stationery even includes a small vial of perfume, which was an unexpected added touch. All of the products have great paper quality and feature unique hand-drawn prints, so they seem super luxe. I’m the type of person who relies a lot on email, but I found myself finding reasons to send hand-written notes to people just so I could use the note cards and stationery.
So if you couldn’t tell already, I’m completely obsessed! You can see for yourself how charming the products are at soapandpaperfactory.com.
