World Ocean Day

I’m very lucky to have spent most of my life on one of the two coasts of the US (minus a short stint in the Midwest) and as a result, have developed a deep appreciation for the ocean. One of my favorite things to do in life is to go to the beach – whether it’s lying out in South Beach or climbing the sand dunes of Canon Beach (in February, true story). I often tell my friends that wherever my future plans take me, I really just have one main criteria about where I must live – and that is I must be within accessible distance to the ocean.

Today is World Ocean Day, a holiday that began in 1992 in Rio de Janerio to honor the ocean and all the life that it provides us. And I can’t think of a more fitting cosmetics company than Creme de La Mer to collaborate with Oceana, one of the world’s largest maritime conservation groups, to celebrate this phenomena. This month, independent of sales, La Mer will donate $100,000 to the efforts of Oceana to it’s work to keep preserve our oceans.

A quick Internet search taught me that Oceana has done such amazing things such as pressuring our government to pass measures that help save endangered sea animals and teaching cruise lines not to improperly dispose of waste into the water. In addition to financial contributions, La Mer has designed a special wrap for its iconic Cream in order to bring awareness to their consumers.

Thank you to La Mer for sharing with us this amazing project they are working on! To learn more about the partnership, you can click here.
