Via Creature Comforts (a fantastic crafty/ design blog), I recently discovered this fabulous new online boutique called LAMA, which was launched by Christine Martinez in an effort to bring Latin design to the US market. “I noticed most boutique buyers were searching throughout Europe and the US to find their products. I decided to travel off the beaten path and check out what was going on with Latin design for myself. What I found were beautiful countries bursting with undiscovered talent and great products,” says Christine. “I believe what makes LAMA truly unique is that it shows what’s currently going on in Latin American design and stays away from stereotypical views of Latino art and culture. It brakes the mold of the indigenous type craft work typically featured and shows the chic side of a culture that is largely underrepresented.” I couldn’t have put it better myself. Everything on this site is totally chic!
As I browsed through the site, I was truly astonished by how gorgeous and modern the products were. However, the product that I fell in love with was the Business Card Case, which is made of durable Mexican oil cloth and features a toile print. For me, it’s the absolute worst when I’m fumbling around for business cards when I meet a new contact – whether it’s a new acquaintance or a possible client. That’s why I absolute must always have a card case of some sort in my purse. It just streamlines the entire process, and you know exactly where everything is.
