Fall For Cargo

For this fall, CARGO is all about the eyes, introducing a ton of new products to transition your look seamlessly into the cooler weather.  The Essential Palettes are made up of four neutral shades that will allow you to create the perfect nude eye, no matter which one you choose.  Available in Neutral Warm, Neutral Cool, and Dark Neutral Warm, the shadows come in both matte and satin finishes and are cleverly marked with the area each color should be applied to (outer corner, crease, lid and browbone).  I always appreciate that in a product because I am so not a morning person and the easier my makeup is to apply, the better.  (Anything for an extra five minutes of sleep!)  The palettes each retail for $32, which is a great value because the shadows are definitely bigger than most brands and will last you well into 2009.  If you’re looking to buy one set of basic shadows for the fall, you can’t go wrong with any of these.

On the opposite end of the color spectrum are the eight new Color Eyeshadow Palettes.  Each of these contains 4 shadows in bright color combos, so you can pair them with the Essential Palettes or use them on their own for a dramatic look that’ll definitely get you noticed.  All of the palettes are named after famous places (Tahiti, Bermuda, Vienna, etc…) and they come in the cutest packages featuring original artwork by Canadian artist Cassie Zhen that were each inspired by the colors in the palette.  My favorites are Toronto (glittering asphalt and star-kissed blue), Barcelona (radiant violet and peacock blue) and London (olive and aubergine).  The shadows go on smoothly and last all day, and just like the Essential Palettes, come with a lot of product for the price ($28).

Once you’ve put on your shadow, finish off your look with their new Wet/Dry Eyelining Palette ($32).  It has eight colors, from black to blue and everything in between, and the colors can be applied dry for a softer, natural look, or wet for a more intense, dramatic feel.  You can even use the colors over your favorite pencil liner to create a completely different color combo, so the palette is even more versatile then it first looks.  The colors are all made with Silica, which helps to absorb oil and moisture, giving them a long-lasting quality, and the small silver compact will fit easily into your bag (and it even has a mirror in it for your convenience).
