Backstage Beauty SP09: Lela Rose
I only stopped by backstage briefly this morning at Lela Rose, but managed to get the scoop on hair and makeup. As Lela’s collection is African-inspired, both Ted Gibson and Stila’s teams worked the safari theme into hair and makeup respectively. I had a chance to catch up again with Jason Backe (met him at a lunch a month ago – he’s amazing and so, so nice!!) to chat a little bit about the look and when I can stop by the Ted Gibson salon for him to color my hair.
The Ted Gibson team did a braided updo for the show – as Jason put it “up, but not too done.” The lineup of hair products was: Hairsheet Styling, Tame It Shine Lotion, and Beautiful Hold Hairspray - and of course the magic of Ted’s styling team.
On the makeup side, Tina Turnbow, celebrity makeup artist from Beauty.com, designed the sunkissed yet light look, as if each model had just been out on a safari. Utilizing all Stila products, they used the Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer to create the dewy base, a Convertible Colors Cream blush in Poppy, a new bronzer that is coming out next spring called Marigold, and finished off the look with their classic Cranberry Lipglaze. On my way out, I caught this model taking a breather before the show and showing off the stunning look.
