Backstage Beauty SP09: Rock & Republic

As many of you know, Rock & Republic is debuting their own line of cosmetics next week (September 15h, to be exact), so we were thrilled to get a sneak peek of what you could do with the products on the Spring 2009 runway. Rock & Republic is all about a rock n’ roll edge, so that aesthetic was translated into the makeup. Rock & Republic’s president, Andrea Bernholtz says, “We used a rock style spring smoky eye, with pale grays to lighten the eye and luminous skin to create that enviable dewiness we look for in spring.”
Rock & Republic brought in Jeanine Lobell to help create the looks for the show. “The focus of the dramatic, yet feminine look we created is a smoky eye with gradated grays, bringing an airy lightness to a sultry look,” Lobell reveals. “I was really inspired by working with the new line. The range of colors and the textures made it easy to bring the look together.” Rock & Republic has kindly provided us with step-by-step instructions on how to re-create the look below:
DIRECTIONS:
1) Began with the Saturate Eye Colour in Ciggy for a light dove gray shadow base. Blend into Saturate Eye Colour in Asphalt (matte lead shadow) on the lid and Saturate Eye Colour in Fatalistic (smoky black shadow) at the lash line. Smudge the shadow under the eye and blend with Saturate Eye Colour in Asphalt.
2) Rim eyes with Bound Gel Eyeliner in Smut and apply Extremist Mascara in Black to accentuate.
3) Use Trickery Tinted Illuminizer on the face to give glowy, radiant coverage – and to offset the bold, heavy eye.
4) Use Rock & Republic’s Imitate Mousse Blush in Rumor or Scandal for a flush of color.
5) Finish with Luxe Lip Gloss in Imposter or Vacant, for a nude, pale lip.
