On Monday night, Amber, I (photo below the cut), and a couple friends attended the Boucheron 150 year anniversary party at Spiegelworld South Street Seaport. Thinking we were going to be working a red carpet media line, we were fully surprised when we learned that this was simply a party! Though we didn’t have the opportunity to conduct interviews or greet the entire confirmed list, have no fear – the party was packed with celebs and their BFFs.
While at the bar, we spotted Melissa George. This was our second sighting of her this week, as on Friday night she was upstairs at Socialista where I saw her for the first time. I’ve always wanted to get the scoop on what it was like to make out with Michael Vartan (the hotness!), but our brief conversation with her last night centered around her fabulous marigold dress and stunning Boucheron sparkler (diamond serpent) and chandelier earrings. Melissa said she thought about belting her dress, but then decided it would be too busy. We thought she looked fab, just the way she was.
With our drinks in hand, we headed out into the lovely evening sky to mix and mingle. Immediately we spotted It-girl of the moment Tinsley Mortimer, who was gracious enough to snap a quick picture with me. Before I could even turn around – who walked in front of us but Nicole Richie, wearing a white tank, a black bubble skirt and some fabulous bling in her hair. She seemed very nice, but we were still working on our celeb-approaching tactics at the time and didn’t manage to talk to her.
As the night progressed, the drinks kept flowing and guests kept coming. One of my favorite sightings of the night was Julia Roitfeld, a fashion inspiration – seriously, could she be any cooler! I only wish I had a sec to speak with Carine Roitfeld or catch a spotting of her seriously hot brother Vladimir. (The Roitfelds were hosting this party). Also spotted was US Voguette Lauren Santo Domingo.
Seriously by this time, 6 drinks later, we couldn’t even keep count of who we were running into on every turn. But we knew someone A-List was approaching when we saw the mob of camera flashes suddenly turn on. And sure enough Juliette Lewis had arrived! When asked what she was wearing, her response was “stuff from my closet.” It was funny the way she said it. She then said “I’ll look at the tag” because she was not sure.
And of course, no fashion party is complete without a fab gift bag. Ours included the October issue of Vanity Fair featuring Marilyn Monroe and the new B de Boucheron Eau de Parfum.
