Harajuku Girls

By now, almost everyone is familiar with Gwen Stefani and her love for the Japanese culture and style. Her new Harajuku Lovers fragrance collection contains five scents, all of which were inspired by the electric street scene of the Harajuku district in Tokyo . (Side note: I totally must go shopping there one day – I’ll bet it’s amazing!) The collection is meant to appeal to anyone who appreciates a “fatal attraction to cuteness,” and with each fragrance having its own distinctive scent, you’re bound to find at least one that you want to take home. The collection includes:
- Love – a sensuous floral with notes of pink pomelo, living hydroponic lace rose, and creamy vanilla orchid
- Lil’ Angel – a fruity floral with notes of pineapple, candied violet, and lollipop accord (my current favorite!)
- Music – a delicate floral with notes of sparkling pear, sweetpea, and sleek woods
- Baby – a powdery musk with notes of white rose, orange flower, and white musk
- G – a modern gourmand with notes of fresh coconut, jasmine sambac, and cotton woods
The bottles for each scent are ridiculously cute; each is topped with a girl representing that specific fragrance, dressed up in Harajuku fashion. They’re what first drew me to the line because you can’t look at any of them and not smile. They just instantly put me in a good mood with their funky outfits and wild hair. I’d so much rather look at these sitting on my dresser than most of the other boring bottles I have.
The fragrances are each available in a 10ml bottle ($25) or a 30ml bottle ($45), and if you have too many favorites to decide on one particular scent, you can get the Solid Coffret ($60), a set of all five in solid form. Perfect for traveling! They can be purchased at Nordstrom.com, and for even more info about the Harajuku Lovers world, visit HLfragrance.com.
