TDO Interview: Bobbi Brown
Monday evening, Total Beauty invited me to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the executives of the Estee Lauder company (more on that in an upcoming post), and one of my favorite makeup gurus, Bobbi Brown, was present! Of course, I had to snag a quick interview with the legend herself and came out with my favorite quote of the night: “Barack Obama wears Bobbi Brown!”
First, however, we talked about her upcoming holiday collection. Though not in stores yet, we managed to sneak a quick look at the gorgeous treats and asked Bobbi about her inspiration.
Bobbi: The holiday collection was inspired by a beaded necklace that had silver, copper and brass all twisted together and I thought it would be an amazing color for makeup. Just a little accent – like jewelry.
If I had to pick only one piece from Bobbi Brown’s collection past, present and future that I couldn’t live without, it would be the original Bronze Brick Shimmer Compact. This is a product that will never leave my makeup bag!! Naturally, I had to know what Bobbi’s favorite piece was.
Bobbi: I think concealer, foundation…I’m such a woman who likes basics. But if I had to pick one thing: Bahama Brown Shimmer Blush is my current favorite.
And of course, what would a TDO interview be without asking Bobbi what her current obsession is?
Bobbi: Barack Obama. I’m obsessed, yeah. I did the entire Biden family’s makeup at the Democratic National Convention. And I did Barack Obama’s makeup. Yes, Barack Obama wears Bobbi Brown.
Bobbi’s also done Michelle Obama’s makeup in the past. But now that Michelle works with a personal makeup artist, she is very loyal, so Bobbi did not do her makeup at the Convention. As for Barack? She created a custom set just for him: foundation, concealer, powder. Who knew?
