Wax On

I’ve said time and time again that my favorite type of lip product is a lip stain. The color actually remains on your lips and has a more natural fade. So when Giorgio Armani Beauty launched their limited edition Lip Wax, I couldn’t wait to try it. Once I got my hands on one, I was totally hooked.

Here’s what Giorgio Armani Beauty says about the Lip Wax: “Like a second-skin garment, the weightless texture dresses lips in a comfortable and extremely fine film of color with a sophisticated satin prima finish.” It’s pretty spot-on. Though described as a compact lipstick, I found the Lip Wax to be a hybrid lip product.

Here’s why: The tiny palette, which contains the lip wax on the bottom and the mirror on the top, reminds me of a balm. The finish reminds of a stain because the color lasts once it’s on your lips and fades very naturally. The application and texture is described as ”the ultra-fine and soft Micro-fil veil ensures a smooth and seemingly weightless result.” I could barely feel the color being applied onto my lips – and actually, totally wouldn’t know it if I wasn’t looking in a mirror whenever I applied.

The color reminds of a lipstick, which you simply dab on with your finger for a light finish or a brush for a more intense and precise application.  Armani offers six signature shades, which can be worn alone or combined to create various hues:

I tried it in Deep Chianti, which was a gorgeous and strong color on me.  It’s a deep red hue that’s totally sexy.  Keeping my makeup to a minimum, I wore it alone with only tinted moisturizer and mascara to accent it.  This is perfect for those days when you want to look pulled together without much effort — which is pretty much me on any day.  I love this so much, that it’s actually been put into rotation in my handbag!

Retails for $39. Check it out and order at the Giorgio Armani Beauty website.

I went to Saks to try this, and they didn’t have all 6 shades. For the price the range of colors seems limited, but that could be for my coloring. I wasn’t that impressed with it.
