Accessories, FashionEditor’s Closet: January 2009

Editor’s Note: Our new monthly feature, Editor’s Closet, will take you into the closets of each editor at TDO, allowing you to take a peek at our individual styles and see what we are currently wearing!  Every month, we will bring you the top five items from a different editor’s closet. We hope that you will be inspired by our wardrobes and welcome dialogue!

ONE. Rosena Sammi Bacha Bracelet — You may remember the Bacha Bracelet from TDO Editor Connie’s lust list back in October, and luckily for me, this piece made it into my closet this month.  It seems like I’m in good company as Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) from Gossip Girl was also spotted wearing it also on a recent episode.  I usually wear a lot of black so this bracelet provides beautiful color and contrast to my work outfits.  It really stands out and makes typing my Excel functions much more bearable when I have something so pretty to look at.  It can also be styled with a party dress and other accessories though I prefer to wear mine as its own statement piece.

TWO. Valentino Bow Booties — I killed two style trends with one stone when I purchased my Valentino Bow Booties last month. I’d been searching for the perfect stiletto ankle booties, and the signature feminine side bow made this shoe that much more interesting than the rest of the lot. I prefer to pair the bootie with pencil skirts and full skirts, making winter dressing practical and chic.  Though these boots retailed for $795, I was lucky enough to snag them on sale for $400.  Still pricy but an investment I’ll wear winter after winter.

THREE. Rebecca Minkoff Devote Tote — TDO editors love Rebecca Minkoff, and I’m a particular fan of the Devote Tote, which has been spotted on many celebs recently.  I prefer this marigold color called “sunshine” because it adds character and warmth to my winter outfits. Plus, as seen all over the red carpets – and even on Michelle Obama, yellow is the “It” color of the season.  The Devote Tote is super roomy, marrying function with style.  In fact, I can even fit my Valentino booties in my bag, alongside my wallet and other odds and ends, making my walk to work that much simpler.

FOUR.  Graydn Lace Dress — My favorite cocktail dress of the moment is a strapless sweetheart neck number by Graydn, a sultry lacy piece that I got a killer deal on at Barney’s CO-OP. Todd Magill’s designs have got it all – style, fit, amazing detailing, beautiful colors and texture.   I wore this to the Louis Vuitton Sprouse Celebration (with my Valentino booties!) and felt like I fit right in with the fashion elite. The piece can be worn alone, or as I preferred, dressed down with a motorcycle jacket.

FIVE. Kristinit Jerry Dress — My everyday favorite dress is the Jerry Dress by LA design house Kirstinit. This simple and super comfortable dress is so easy to wear.  I simply throw a cardigan over it at the office and remove the sweater when it’s time for happy hour.  The buttons create a flattering waistline and make this piece unique.  The dress is made of organic cotton and comes with adjustable snaps – so I can indulge in dinner and dessert without worrying about busting out.  It was a big hit when I styled this with fishnet tights and (surprise) my bow booties for my birthday dinner out last month.  I was lucky enough to get mine straight from the designer, but you can pick one up at Fred Segal.
