Lust List: January 2009

ONE. Herve Leger Strapless Woodgrain Foil Print Dress — This gorgeous number from Herve Leger is my ideal party dress. It’s shimmery with a cross-banded bodice, and is distinctly sexy without showing too much skin. And I dare you to try not looking like a tall, yummy glass of champagne with that signature Herve Leger curve-hugging fit! Sadly, with that price tag, this may be my New Year’s dress next year once I save up enough money…or maybe in 2018. - ninabee
TWO. Linda & Harriett Vintage Wallpaper Stationery — I am ultra obsessed with this gorgeous vintage wallpaper stationery! The designer scouted the rolls of vintage wallpaper herself, which is then hand cut and placed into each envelope. When the recipient opens the envelope, it’s a little vintage floral surprise inside. I’m also totally in love with their signature script lettering for the letterpressed cards and think it’s a perfect pairing. Sadly, at $490, there’s no way I can afford this after all the holiday spending last month. - thedailyobsession
THREE. Skates & Ice Skating Lessons — It was always a secret dream of mine as a girl to learn to figure skate. I grew up with Nancy Kerrigan, Kristy Yamaguchi (pre “Dancing with the Stars”,) Oksana Baiul, and Michelle Kwan, and used to tape all of their performances, which was quite a chore in the pre-DVR age. Something about the elegance of their movements, the pristineness of their white figure skates, and their flowing and graceful costumes inspired me and I wanted to learn to triple salchow/triple axel it like everyone else. Sadly, I only made it through Basics 1 ice skating classes. While I successfully learned to go around the rink without falling, I am no Michelle Kwan. On a whim though, I decided a few weeks ago to look into learning how to ice skate for real this time, so I could learn to really “glide” and skate backwards and look coordinated. My lust list item for this month is a set of ice skating lessons at Wollman Rink (a 15 private lesson series is $825 dollars at Wollman Skating Rink and this set of pristine white ice skates (because who can be a real skater with those gross brown colored rented skates they have at rinks?). It’s never too late to fulfill my dreams of an Olympic gold medal, right? - joie
FOUR. Escape to Shape — Going on an Escape to Shape vacation has been on my radar for ages, but their Spring 2009 trips to Cartagena has especially perked my interest. I have a newfound obsession with South America after my recent Peru trip and have added Colombia to my list of must-visit countries. Escape to Shape takes your vacation to the next level combining fitness, food, culture and even community service into one package. Branded as a traveling spa, each 7 day, 6 night trip includes daily yoga, cooking classes, local excursions, language classes, luxury accomodation, spa services and healthy, fresh meals. This is one vacation you are not going to return having gained weight! During the month of March, Escape to Shape is also doing 2 “Giveback Giveaways” during which attendees spend time giving back to the local community by painting houses for La Casa Pintada. In addition, the program donates $250 per person to this organization. I can’t think of a better way to stay healthy, volunteer, and really get to know the beautiful city of Cartagena. And since the program ends on a Friday, you’ll even have the whole weekend to take a short trip to Bogota. Priced at $3000, this trip is slightly out of my budget given my recent traveling, but I do hope to make it one of these years. - perfumed
FIVE. Nanette Lepore Sahara Dress — Even though the holiday parties are finished for the season, I’m still not over my desire to shop for formal dresses. At my next big event in 2009, I want to be wearing this Nanette Lepore Sahara dress. It’s an elegant silk with a classic shape, but the cutout at the bust and the beaded banding gives it a funky twist on the classic LBD. I’d pair it with super high black strappy sandals and dance all night. If only it wasn’t a way-out-of-my-price-range $695… - productwhore
