Winter Boot Round-up
Last year, I went on a search for the perfect pair of wellies to endure a rainy season. And now, I’ve become very, very serious about winter boots since I moved to Chicago. The winter here is serious and some heavy duty boots are definitely needed to keep your feet warm, dry, or ideally both. My criteria for the ideal pair of boots are a) non-ugly, and b) weather-proof. Sadly, those 2 can be mutually exclusive when it comes to winter boots! I’ve scoured all over for boots that are both functional and as chic as can be. What did I find? Keep reading…

I always like the boots that Burberry designs because they use pretty heavy-duty, waterproof materials. These Weatherboots are completely functional, lacing up tight to keep your feet dry from all the elements. I like the check detail and how you can wear these wear these with your slacks to work without looking totally ridiculous. The only drawback right now? The vague small, medium, and large sizing. Better to try these on first!

During the winter, I always wish I can wear my UGGs 24/7, which fellow TDO editor Carolyn (perfumed) knows is one of our guilty pleasures. Sadly, my non-waterproof UGGs cannot survive the several layers of snow and slush that has been plaguing Chicago as of late. I want a pair of boots that still has the shearling warmth of UGGs, but with the ability to actually step in a pile of snow without slipping or getting soaked. Thankfully, UGG Australia actually has a boot that fits this perfectly. The Belfair Zip Tall Waterproof Boot has that UGG shearling lining but is waterproof and actually sleeker looking than the regular kind!

And lastly, who says you can’t keep wearing your favorite pair of wellies through the winter? As long as they keep your feet dry, you’re golden, like with my favorite Hunter wellies. Dry, but not necessarily warm unless you wear them with a pair of welly socks! Aren’t these cute? Your feet will be toasty warm. Have any other suggestions? Let us know in the comments!
