Sand Jewelry

I love discovering funky, new brands of jewelry – especially when it’s from a local designer (I’m all about supporting the home team!).  Sand Jewelry was founded by Therese Nguyen, who resides here in Southern California, and is inspired by the nature in this area, as well as the vibrant colors of the Pacific Ocean.  The line features organic, nature-inspired earrings, rings and necklaces and uses semi-precious gemstones and freshwater pearls that have been picked out personally by Therese.

There are a ton of pieces in this line that I would wear, but here’s a couple that I know I’m going to have to pick up.  I’m loving the Peas in a Pod earrings.  The delicate ovals are accented with freshwater pearls for a classic look that would be equally appropriate for work or for a dinner date.  I also need to own the Black Magic pair.  I wear a lot of black, which can get a little boring after awhile, so I like to accent my outfits with some interesting jewelry, and these totally fit the bill.  They’re made with onyx, quartz, and pearl and quartz and they hang beautifully.  They would look great with jeans, a black shirt and heels, with my hair up to show them off.

I also love the Purple Chunks ring.  Chunky jewelry adds a hip touch to any look, and I love the combination of amethyst and silver and gold.  I’d alternate wearing this with the Plum Bracelet.  (I’m really into purple this season).  The bracelet is an eye-catching combo of  purple jasper and amethyst and would make a simple sundress stand out.

The best thing about Sand Jewelry is that it’s totally affordable, so you won’t feel guilty about splurging on yourself.  And I love that Therese is a surfer who only uses stones and pearls that have been responsibly harvested.  It’s a nice touch and one that makes these modern pieces even more covetable.
