Urban Decay for Spring

I am a total Urban Decay fan.  I love that they have such a wide variety of shades and products, and that you can wear their colors to fancy black tie events or just out and about on a Saturday while you do errands.  So I was really excited when I got the chance to check out their new Spring 2009 collection.  It definitely didn’t disappoint – the shades are bright and fun and totally perfect for the change of season.

The new collection mainly revolves around the eyes. Those of you who are fans of the original Eyeshadow Primer Potion will be delighted to learn that it’s now available in Sin, a shimmering champagne color.  You can use it the same way as the original as a primer for other shades, but it also looks great on its own (sort of a no makeup makeup look) or as a highlighter on your browbone.  (I’m slightly obsessed with it and can’t stop using it – it’s just such a pretty shade!)

My favorite product in the collection is the Cream Shadows.  Urban Decay discontinued these a while ago and I was so sad because I really liked them, so when I saw that they were back, I was very excited.  The shadows come with a sponge tip applicator and are gel-based, so they go on smoothly, but give you the time to blend them and fix any application mistakes before they set.  And once they set, they’re totally budge-proof.  They don’t move at all.  I think they last better than the majority of power shadows I have, so that’s another thing to love about them.  The cream shadows are available in twelve different shades, so you can create a ton of different looks with them.  I really like them all, but if I had to pick a few favorites, I would go with Asphalt (black with silver and iridescent glitter), Weeds (vibrant olive green with silver glitter), and Radium (metallic blue).  They’re bold and unique and totally fun to play around with.

The collection also features four new shades of 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils.  I have a lot of these pencils already because they glide on so smoothly and don’t tug at your eyes, which someone once told me creates wrinkles.  Underground is my favorite new shade – it’s a metallic taupe that goes great with my green eyes.  The other news shades are Flipside (a bright teal), Graffiti (bright green with wilver sparkle), and Ransom (a bright iridescent purple).  If you’re really looking to make your eyes stand out, they go great layered with the Heavy Metal Glitter Liners.  The thin brushes on these apply the glitter in sparkling lines, so you can really use them for dramatic effect.  (They definitely aren’t for people who like to blend in!)  The new shades include Catfight (bright pink), Groupie (pale pink), Stagedive (bright turquoise), and Midnight Cowboy (beige).

The spring collection also includes another twist on an old favorite – the new Midnight Cowboy lipstick.  It’s a sheer, shimmering beige that matches the very popular Midnight Cowboy eyeshadow.  It’s a great basic color to pair with a dark smoky eye and it’s moisturizing and long-lasting, so it’s almost like wearing a more colorful lip balm.  Perfect for spring!
