Wendy Brandes Jewelry

I don’t wear necklaces all that often because I have long hair and a lot of times, my hair gets tangled up in it and I end up having to pull strands out of the chain or the clasp. Besides the fact that it’s painful, it always leaves me slightly afraid that I’m going to get bald patches from where the hair comes out. (A totally irrational worry, I admit, but still…) I do love the look of a gorgeous necklace though, so if I know I’m going to be wearing my hair up, I’ll take advantage of that and slip one on. I’m trying to stick to a budget right now, so I can’t buy any new jewelry, but if I could, it would be one of these gorgeous pieces from Wendy Brandes.
The Grapes Necklace is so whimical and cute that I started smiling instantly when I saw it. Its 18K yellow gold design is made to resemble a hanging cluster of grapes, and there are three little amethysts that accent the circles with a purple sparkle. The pendant hangs on a 16″ chain, so it will hang nicely – the better to show off how nicely it looks around your neck! It’s not cheap at $1190, but if you’re looking to add a unique piece to your jewelry collection, this would be a great choice. And for those of you who aren’t amethyst fans, you can also get the Grapes Necklace in a peridot version for the same price.
At a more affordable $450, the Oak Leaf Necklace is so adorable that I find myself visiting it online almost every day. (Maybe subconsciously I’m thinking that if I view it enough times, they’ll just send it to me!) The sterling silver oak leaf design comes on a 28′ chain and would look great with a low cut top or a wrap dress. I would wear it alone or layer it with the Acorn Necklace for a trendy look. (Multiple necklaces are definitely in for spring).

Love these! So funny–my hair is long, but I almost always wear necklaces. It’s earrings that I skip.
