Why: Nestled unassumingly among the busy college foodshops and knick-knack stores on 8th Street, Eve Salon is a relaxing haven for stressed students and young professionals. With a simple chocolate brown storefront, the salon offers a multitude of services including waxing, manicures/pedicures, and facials.
I tried the “80 Minutes in Eden” facial, because I was determined to address the dark circles under my eyes, which just never appear to go away. Recently, my eye circles have gotten so bad that random people stop to remark on how “tired” I look if I don’t apply enough concealer. The “80 Minutes in Eden” facial includes a thorough exfoliation of the face as well as a mini-peel around the eye area, along with special massage techniques targeting your lymph nodes.
My aesthetician for the day was Elizabeth, who had the lightest touch in extractions that I have ever experienced. Usually extractions are the most painful and dreaded part of a facial for me, however Elizabeth was so light and quick that I barely felt them. She was also incredibly thorough and probed every millimeter of my skin for inpurities, yet I emerged from my facial with little to no redness. My skin felt amazingly soft and smooth, and my entire eye area looked more refreshed and less worn (unfortunately, it will take more than one facial to get rid of my long plagued dark eye circles.)
Although Eve’s Salon is not the most luxe of salons (you won’t find a separate locker area in this salon for changing and your bags,) the focus here is on quality services with reasonable prices. Visit the website for additional information and call 212.807.8054 to make an appointment.
