If Jenn Falik looks familiar to you, it’s probably because you’ve seen her grace your television screen as the go-to style and beauty expert. Countless local and national shows around the country depend on her to try hundreds of beauty products and scout out the latest fashion finds every season. From her years of working in public relations with some of the most prestigious brands in the world, she’s become an expert in her own right at predicting the newest trends and finding the most effective products. I met Jenn a few weeks ago over drinks, and was charmed by her expertise at sharing under-the-radar brands and goodies at every price point. So what is Jenn obsessed with this month? Read on and find out!
ONE. Blow Styling Salon — If I have an early morning TV segment, this is where I start my day. The blowouts are amazing, and I can get a great manicure and voluminous, smooth hair in under 45 minutes. I always run into the most interesting people there – it has become a kind of networking destination for people in fashion/beauty/media – so I can get work done while getting my hair did. Nice. (And their new dry shampoo, Faux Dry, is my go to for between appointments to get the most mileage out of the good hair day.)
TWO. Hunter Dixon Blouses — The word “blouse” used to make me cringe and remind me of old ladies playing Bridge or something, but I can’t think of another word to describe the beautifully flowy, perfectly hued tops from my go-to brand, Hunter Dixon. I have the 4 of these from their fall/winter collection – in fuschia, purple, green and blue – and can’t wait to get my hands on the new short sleeved version. Perfect tucked into high waisted jeans or left loose and belted high on the waist with skinny capris or a pencil skirt. The details – delicately affixed buttons, perfectly placed ruffles – and the versatility, make them instant classics.
THREE. Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Deodorant — Attractive, no – but a fact of life, yes. I am a sweaty person! This deodorant works wonders and the sexy scent makes me feel a bit more dainty about my self-professed “heating disorder.”
FOUR. BURN VOYAGE Candles — BURN VOYAGE Candles were created by my personal beauty idol, Robin Coe-Hutshing, the brains behind the famous STUDIO BEAUTYMIX at Fred Segal. So even if they didn’t smell amazing, which they do, I would likely still covet them. The scents are all inspired by memories created by different travel destinations – and they are so tightly packaged in their boxes that you can throw them in a suitcase and not worry for one second that they are going to break. I never check into a hotel without one. My favorites right now are Blue Horizon and Midnight Moon.
FIVE. Christian Louboutin Very Prive Pumps — Every year for my birthday, my husband treats me to a pair of Louboutins, and in the process, he has created a monster. For the most part, I am a big believer that you really don’t need to buy “THE” actual “splurge” item to get the “splurge” look when it comes to accessories. But in the case of the perfect peep toes, there really are no imitations that even come close. And trust me, I have looked.
