Party Proof Mascara
Mascaras these days come with a lot of features. They vibrate, they coat each lash in tubes, they boast the world’s biggest brush. Almost all of them claim the most basic mascara promise: to be smudge and flake proof. But are they really? Even after a crazy night of partying, rubbing your eyes, taking out your contacts and passing out with a full face of makeup on? I heard once, and always subscribed to the idea, that the amount of morning undereye smudge is directly proportional to how much fun you had the night before. And up until today, every mascara I’ve tried has lived up to that belief.
Yesterday I put on Le Métier de Beauté Anamorphic Lash Mascara around 5pm, went to dinner, hit up a couple of crazy parties, ate a bowl of mac&cheese at 2am, started falling asleep whilst eating, miraculously made it home with all the contents of my handbag, dropped off my Louboutins by the sink and promptly passed out. You know, one of those nights that was definitely way more fun at the time than the next day. When I rolled out of bed this morning, bright and early, I sleepily looked into the mirror to evaluate the damage/judge how much fun I really had when I surprisingly noticed that I had not one hint of smudge under my eye. Not even a faint grey shadow. Nothing.
So the next thing I did was feel my lashes just to make sure I actually had mascara on. That’s when I noticed the second this-has-never-happened-to-me-before shocker. My lashes were really, really soft! I would’ve imagined that the formula would’ve gotten at least a little crunchy after all that time but my lashes remained as soft as if I hadn’t put anything on. It’s pretty rare these days that a product can perform so well that I’m actually stunned. But this is it- instantly elevated to Holy Grail status, never to leave my makeup bag.
Anamorphic Lash Mascara does an amazing job lengthening with just one coat and thickening with multiple. Since I was moving about half as quickly this morning as usual and occupied my time doing things like fishing my shoes out of the sink, checking my txt msg outbox, and uploading last night’s pictures to Facebook, I didn’t have time to reapply my mascara. My lashes still look pretty amazing even now about 24 hours after application. It’s nice to know that your mascara will always be there for you regardless of how much of a disaster you may be.

What exactly do you mean when you say your eyes can “feel” like you have mascara on?
In my experience, all the mascaras I have loved have felt weightless, so I never have “felt” like I have anything on. However, when I go to touch my eyelashes, I can definitely tell that there is product on there, as they feel thicker and denser than normal.
I would suggest trying another brand to see if you still “feel” the mascara on your eyes, or if it doesn’t really bother you and you love the results, stick to the one you are currently using!

This is definitely going on my list of things to buy. EVERY mascara I’ve ever tried has smudged on me by afternoon.

What I mean by saying that my eyes “feel” the mascara because they get a bit irritated, teary, and bloodshot such that I end up removing the mascara after an hour. Does that indicate sensitivity to a product?

Hi Laura, if your eyes are sensitive to the mascara, maybe you can try an organic one:

This one should be free of any chemical elements that your eyes could be reacting to, and works just as well.

I had the same problem! Don’t look for waterproof – this did nothing for me…look on the back and see if it says smudge-proof!
Question: when you wear mascara, are you supposed to “feel” that you have mascara on (my eyes can sense the mascara on my lashes)? Is it a sign that I should switch to another product?
