Beauty, SkincareSteam Clean

I’m a bit late on the beauty bandwagon to be posting about this hidden gem that I found lurking on the shelves of Duane Reade, as it’s already been reviewed by a few other beauty blogs, but better late than never!   I love discovering drugstore finds and just had to share the one I found on a recent visit to Duane Reade with all of you TDO readers: the Clean & Clear Soft In-Shower Facial.

I am probably entirely too old to be looking at any Clean & Clear products as they are mostly geared to the teen set, but then again, I’m probably too old to actually like High School Musical (fine, and High School Musical 2 ) and the Hannah Montana Show, but that’s never stopped me.   The premise of the product just seemed too promising to be true–a facial experience utilizing the steam of your shower, making your skin silky smooth in under 2 minutes?  But thankfully, the results lived up to the hype and I’m thoroughly obsessed with this product leading to 4, going on 5 nights of continuous usage.

The product comes in tube form, containing a white paste with a mixture of fruit acids, exfoliating grains, and a moisturizing component, designed to detoxify, smooth, and soften, in that order.  After letting the shower run for a bit to work up some steam, you spread the paste in a thin layer over your face.  Warning, you will feel a slightly tingly sensation to your skin as the fruit acids go to work while mixing with the steam from your shower, but not to worry, you won’t emerge with any red or pink skin and the feeling isn’t entirely uncomfortable.  After leaving the paste on for a minute, gently massage the exfolating grains into your skin, and rinse.

1 shower later, I emerged with baby soft skin–the type of supple skin so unbelievable that I kept touching it to see if it was real.  The only and very, very small mini-gripe I have with the product is that I found the click top hard to open.  Perhaps I wasn’t trying very hard as I didn’t want to ruin my recent manicure or maybe I bought a defective tube, but it hasn’t stopped me from still enjoying the product, it’s just someting to keep in mind.

I usually don’t look at Clean and Clear products, but one of my friends tried it and loved it, and I concur!

I love love love this stuff. Although I find it best to put it on and then get in the shower – maybe I read the directions wrong?

This stuff is amazing. Whenever my skin is feeling congested or “built-up” I’ll get this out and it always gives me baby smooth skin. But do not, repeat do NOT use this after washing with acne products. I accidentally did that the first time and almost burnt my face off, heh.

I’m so glad everyone loves this product as much as I do, it really is amazing! I even told my mom about it over the weekend on Mother’s Day and she’s super excited to try it. I made a promise to bring a tube back for her next time : )
