Fashion, Fitness & HealthGet in the Groove

A friend one told me that one of the easiest way to encourage yourself to be motivated to go to the gym is to buy cute gym clothes.  After the discovering of Lululemon and stocking my gym wardrobe with plenty of their functional and stylish separates, I’m inclined to agree.  This may sound ridiculous, but I swear with each piece of Lululemon clothing I buy, the more I feel pressured to go to the gym to get some wear out of my new outfits.

Lululemon might not be a new brand name to some of you, but I was slow to catch on since there haven’t been many stores in the Tri-State New York City area until recently.  I first heard about it from TDO Editor Carolyn, when I asked for recommendations on a cute and useful yoga pant (Lululemon was responsible for the pair of pants she wore while trekking in Peru.)  Then, came the opening of the new store in Union Square.  One day while walking home from work, I strolled in and tried on their infamous Groove pant and it soon became on of my gym staples.

The key to the greatness of Lululmon’s pants, is their signature fabric, luon, which contributes the pant’s phenomenal fit. Luon is moisture wicking, pre-shrunk, and contains a 4 way stretch, allowing for ease of movement.  Lululemon purposely designs their pants to have flat seams so there is no chafing during workout, with a flat wide waistband that doesn’t dig into your skin, and also won’t ride up or down while you are running.  A small pocket is on the inside of each pair of pants so you can easily insert a credit card or gym card on the inside.

The Groove pant has a slightly flared fit to flare comfortably out over your sneakers, and the way the pant is cut along with the forgiving strech of the luon, makes your butt look great even while working out.  I bet you never thought a gym pant could make your butt look good–but trust me, these do.  I’ve even had people at the gym stop me to ask what brand of pant I was wearing and recommended it to 2 of my friends who reported back with similar testimony.

Groove pants come in two lengths, including regular and tall, and for my fellow shorties, Lululemon also does complimentary pant shortening, which I automatically love.

You can find Groove pants on the Lululemon website or in their stores.

It so true, what you said about cute gym clothes motivating you to work out. I buy ones from Old Navy (cute AND cheap!) or Lululemon. They are fitted, so there’s no extra fabric, but too revealing that I feel naked. Yoga pants must be sent from heaven.
