SC for LV
It’s been a while since I’ve lusted over a Louis Vuitton bag but the SC (for Sofia Coppola) bag for Louis Vuitton is my new favorite for the Spring season. Since Marc Jacobs took over as head of design for Louis Vuitton, I’ve been finding that more and more of the bags are very MJ inspired, indicative no more evidently than in the common heavy hardware found in the bag designs of both lines. I like the way that hardware looks, but hate the way it weighs down on my shoulder. My bags weigh about 50 pounds already thanks to everything I stuff in there, so I really don’t need another 15 pounds added for a zipper or a mostly ornamental padlock.
Sofia Coppola, apparently shares a similar gripe with me regarding heavy hardware, and designed the SC bag to express her desire for a day bag that was “chic, discreet, and lightweight and that isn’t enormous” without a lot of hardware. Enter the SC bag, with the hybrid duffel inspired shape of Louis Vuitton classics, the Speedy and the Keepall. You’ll notice that unlike recent Louis Vuitton designs that seem to scream to be noticed, this bag design is subtly stylish. There are no unnecessary heavy zipper tags or locks, and it can be carried either by hand or using the shoulder strap. The size is just perfect enough to throw in all daily essentials, with a zippered pocket on the side and an open pocket for your cellphone, solving yet another issue I have had with Louis Vuitton bags: lack of interior zippers.
If all of the features above aren’t motivation enough to check out the bag, the fact that it’s owned by the Most Stylish Woman in the World (a.k.a Kate Moss) and also by new British style maven, Alexa Chung should give you some initiative to swing by a Louis Vuitton boutique near you to try it out. Although the bag can be seen online, it is not sold online.
The bag comes in several different materials, including the traditional Monogram canvas, dark red or black Calf leather or black suede and vary in price from $2, 230 to 3, 870. In addition to the SC bag, Sofia has also designed a slim, chic flat clutch called the Slim and the 70s inspired ankle strap wedge called the Sofia Wedge.

[...] the relaxed, rectangular rounded duffel shape of the Palermo bag, which has a similar look to the Sofia Coppola for LV bag that I blogged about a while back. You can hold it easily by the handles, and it’s [...]

I totally love the bags and actually it’s probably the only few LV bags I can ever say I truly covet… sadly, WAY out of my price range! :(
