Insider’s Obsessions: Petra Strand
Petra Strand, Swedish-born makeup artist, founded makeup brand Pixi Beauty a decade ago. Petra believes in multi-tasking, fuss-free products that incorporate nourishing skin care ingredients; or rather, it’s makeup that leaves you looking fresh and natural, which perfectly matches our view on makeup here at TDO. More recently, she partnered with Target to bring the Pixi line to the masses. All of her products are packaged in sleek, slim compacts, perfect for women on-the-go, so unsurprisingly, she has a loyal fan base including celebrity clients include Helena Christensen, Adele and Kylie Minogue among others. Who better to ask about what’s obsession-worthy this month? Below, Petra dishes on what she’s loving – so check it out!
ONE. G.W. Smith (Master Architect from the 20′s) — I live in Santa Barbara now and have fallen in love with the original architecture that was created in the 20′s and 30′s, that set the tone of Spanish style that Santa Barbara has become known for. I’m currently want all the books about him. He was a total genius in design, light and proportion.
TWO. Vintage Beauty Packaging — I love anything vintage and have been collecting bottles, jars and compacts for a long time now. I love the artistry and design that went into packaging the design in those days.
THREE. Pixi Illuminating Tint and Conceal — Can’t live without this super sheer tinted moisturizer that looks like bare skin (but much better!). It also includes a matching concealer in the cap for under eye circles – it’s addictive.
FOUR. Andersen & Lauth — Best designed clothes I have seen in a long time. Wearable, super cute, comfortable, nobody has them (yet) – with a vintage twist.
FIVE. Target — Shop till you drop for everything for my house, baby and teenager – so convenient! My favorite things for myself are: sunglasses (so many great designs), beach bags, treatment hair care & beauty. My last favorite buy was my GPS – I’m so happy I don’t get lost any more (maps are just impossible) – I love it!!!! Turn left, turn left, recalculating. :)
