A Scent By Issey Miyake
Issey Miyake’s new fragrance is called A Scent by Issey Miyake, a name that’s as simple and sophisticated as the fragrance itself. Issey’s first women’s fragrance in twelve years, it’s a scent that was designed to “capture the air between earth and sky where flowers, leaves, and wood create a new olfactory perspective centered on a fresh theme: green-floral-woody.”
It’s an elegant fragrance that’s very clean, yet not in a soapy, fresh laundry kind of way. It’s very hard to describe (I’m sitting here sniffing my wrist and trying to put what I smell into words!) There are notes of Hyacinth and Galbanum along with Verbena and Jasmine – it’s slightly floral, but not in a cloying or overwhelming way. It’s a very subtle fragrance, but one that lingers in the air after you leave a room and makes an impression. (I was wearing it yesterday and the woman next to me in line at Starbucks asked me what it was. That’s always the sign of a good scent to me!) The bottle is also very interesting – it was developed with a distinctive production technique that creates the feeling of a single piece of glass. It looks exactly like the kind of bottle that I would picture this fragrance coming in.
A Scent by Issey Miyake will be available exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus until October 15th; then, you’ll also be able to purchase it at Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom.
