Editor’s Closet: August 2009

ONE. Charlotte Russe Shadow Striped Blouse — Though the source was surprising, this top is a great find. The cut, with the empire waist and deep v neckline, is really flattering. The fabric is light and airy, but you can add layers when the weather gets colder. Plus, the navy hue is perfect for throwing over a pair of skinny jeans (gray or black, in my case) and flats.

TWO. Rebecca Minkoff Beloved Bag — This is Rebecca’s take on a messenger bag – so edgy yet practical.  The gold-toned hardware and number of zippers gives it a more downtown feel, but the leather is still super luxurious and soft. It’s also roomy – perfect for your everyday essentials – and maybe a couple magazines or books, too!

THREE. Coach Brendy Heels — I’ve been wearing these heels all summer long. I reviewed them back in May, but maybe love them even more now.  The leather is divine and the color is that perfect tan hue. They’re super comfortable and cushy – and I can wear them for everything from work meetings to casual weekend brunches to weddings.

FOUR. Assets by Sara Blakely Fantastic Firm Cami — I love the Assets line by Sara Blakely (founder of Spanx) because it’s ultra affordable. Yet it’s still high quality shapewear that is breathable and slimming. With all the hot weather, this cami has been saving my life when it comes to layering. I swear that it shaves a couple inches off my waist, and it’s great because it actually looks like a regular cami (not the case with all shapewear).

FIVE. Citizens Of Humanity Avedon Skinny Jean — Skinny jeans are a must for fall, and I can’t wait until I can wear these Citizens jeans on a more consistent basis. These have an amazing stretch (without stretching out) and fit like a glove. They’re great with flats to run errands in – and when the weather finally gets cold, I’m going to be tucking them into boots!

Those shaping camis are the kind that trim your tummy but don’t smush your boobs? (I hate camis that give a girl uniboob.) If so, I’m buying a few post pregnancy!

Kristina – YES! They totally don’t smush. :) There’s different paneling in that area.
