Colorful Fall

I know it’s only August, but now that all the fall collections are out (or on their way) I cannot wait for autumn.  It’s the one season where I miss living on the east coast the most because out here in L.A., we don’t get crisp air and leaves changing – it’s mostly just more hot days and palm trees the same color they always are.  This year I’m especially excited for fall makeup because I have yet to see a new collection that I don’t like.  And one of my favorites is Urban Decay.  It’s a HUGE collection with a ton of new products, so I’m going to highlight some of my must haves. Love, Lulu Mae

We at TDO love love love hair accessories, and I’m super excited to have come across Love, Lulu Mae, a Chicago-based line of haid-crafted luxury hair accessories. All of the Love, Lulu Mae pieces have a distinctively vintage feel, since designer Agnes B. Miles finds vintage and antique buttons, textiles, jewels, and exotic feathers to use in her creations. I love her pieces, as they have a flapper-y flair but are so cute as well. Best of all, Love, Lulu Mae has gorgeous accessories at a variety of price points. Above, the Hazel Flower Hair Clip retails for just $45, and looks so sweet and feminine.

Agnes is giving all TDO readers 10% off their purchases! Enter in code LOVE at checkout to save, and keep reading for more of our favorite Love, Lulu Mae finds! (more…)

For cheaper than the price of most international flights, you can take unlimited trips with JetBlue for $599!  Their All-You-Can-Jet pass lets you fly as much as you want between Sept 8 and Oct 8 between 57 cities including basically all major US cities. Some of TDO editor’s favorite destinations such as Boston, New York, LA, San Francisco, Chicago and Seattle are serviced by JetBlue and all domestic taxes are already included!  In addition, some amazing international cities are also included in this deal but you’d have to pay additional tax.  JetBlue offers service to Barbados starting Oct 1 which falls perfectly within the time period.  As you know, I’m a huge fan!

You can get your pass through Friday, August 21.  If you need any recomendations for what to do on your trips, be sure to hit us up!

Bling It Out

Anything that’s got a bit of bling or shine usually makes me say “Oooh,” and possibly followed by “That’s so…” – plus your adjective of choice (like cool, pretty, unique, etc.) That’s exactly what happened when I went to visit Snoozer Loser‘s site this week. Though it feels like I just wrote about them, I can’t help telling you about the new pendants they have up in their shop because really…you need to know.

The 24K Gold Plated Chalcedony Pendant is like a huge rough chunk of gold rock, which looks so edgy and is definitely statement-making.  But when you turn the pendant around, you’ll discover the back is totally smooth, shiny and subtle – for those days when you don’t want to be as flashy. Also, how can I resist the Pyrite Pendant? This nugget of “fool’s gold” is just so totally cool. Take a look and no more words need to be said.

Stain, Stain Go Away

The newest accoutrement to my bag this Fall will not be the latest from Dolce and Gabbana’s makeup collection (although I am dying to try the lipstick after seeing it featured all over the pages of Vogue) or the newest gray nail polish, but the Tide To-Go Pen.  That’s right–not exactly the most glam accessory I’ve accumulated over the years, but I’ve determined it to be indispensable, even more so than my Nars Orgasm blush, which has always been my top choice for Deserted Island beauty products.

While the Tide To-Go isn’t exactly new to the market, I only became aware of it a few weeks ago when it saved me twice in the course of 3 weeks.  Exhibit A:  I was eating a salad yesterday with balsamic vinegar and my speared piece of lettuce was midway to my mouth, when it flopped all over my formerly crisp white button-down.  All attempts to run to the bathroom and dab it clean with cold water failed, and I despaired that I lost yet another shirt to a dark stain (see also light blue Lacoste polo, soy sauce stain 2008, RIP.) Getting so Fresh and so CLEAN!

Yesterday, I ran into my friend Vera at a media event where instead of munching on the delicious looking sliders being passed around, I whipped out this fluorescent shake that I had hastily put into a clear Botox branded water bottle and took a big swig.

I see that she’s mentioned it on her site today.  So to all the I’m Not Obsessed readers, welcome! Here, we are obsessed.  Daily.

Yesterday, I started the 21 day detox  called The CLEAN Program- which if you follow Gwyneth Paltrow’s blog, you’ll know that she’s a big fan.  A couple days ago, my friend from  Health.com also started the cleanse though she chose to make all the recipes herself from the book. I’ve read through the book and the recipes in there are delicious but I know that I’ll never be able to stick with a 100% home made cleanse simply due to the fact that involves daily  shopping, cooking and packing- and I usually wake up an hour before I have to be at my desk. Light up for a Cause

A couple weeks ago I went to a media preview event for IKEA.  Having shopped there throughout college as well as before I moved into my first New York apartment, I was excited to see what was new for 2010.   I learned that they recently lowered prices on a lot of their inventory…permanently- which is great for young professionals just getting started on their own. The price you used to pay for a beer pong table can now buy you the same table..and a six pack  of beer. Definitely a win from all angles.

But what really impressed me was a new lamp that I hadn’t noticed before. The SUNNAN solar-powered lamp is an innovative, environmentally friendly, and socially friendly light that supports children in need. I had no idea that IKEA had a huge philanthropic initiative and for every SUNNAN lamp purchased, a similar but sturdier SUNNAN lamp will be donated to children in developing countries through an IKEA Social Initiative program. Dolce & Gabbana Makeup

Dolce & Gabbana recently launched their makeup line and we finally had a chance to try it out! The line reflects the Dolce & Gabbana philosophy of creating something feminine, glamorous and sensual. (The face of their campaign is Scarlett Johansson – so that should tell you what type of woman they’re appealing to.) The packaging for the products are sleek, gilded and gorgeous. Each item is truly like discovering a treasure, but none of that matters if the products aren’t good. So are they?  Well, let’s first run through what their debut collection includes:  (more…)
