Backstage Beauty SS10: Costello Tagliapietra

Costello Tagliapietra went for a youthful, romantic look for their SS10 season – and thus, wanted the hair to match that vibe. Lead hair stylist Thomas Dunkin of Sebastian Professional was inspired to create an elegant ‘40s inspired faux bob that was a bit playful. The result was a pretty and slightly undone loose curls that matched the femininity of the pieces that went down the runway. Behind the cut, find out how to re-create the look:

1) Begin by building texture (try Sebastian Professional Texturizer) to damp hair and distribute product evenly throughout.

2) Blow hair out straight with a medium to large-sized round brush.

3) Spray hair with a flexible hairspray for added texture.

4) Section hair. Curl it with a medium-sized barrel curling iron and set.

5) Take out pins and gently brush out the curls. Then roll hair under, section by section, fastening it under at the neck with bobby pins.

6) For a bit more texture (but still touchable hair), Dunkin recommends appying Sebastrian Professional Microweb Fiber to hands and gently work through the front of the hair to create an “imperfect, lived-in effect.”

7) Finish by misting with a strong-hold hairspray.
