Choose Your Side in Tennis

While everyone else was attending the shows yesterday at Bryant Park and Milk Studios, I spent my entire afternoon attending the Men’s Semifinals match at the US Open in Queens. I have zero regret in dragging myself out of bed to get to the US Open after a late night out on Saturday, especially since I got to see Federer hit this best shot of his career, this incredible between the legs shot that cemented his win against Novak Djokovic (watch it here.) I wasn’t alone in taking a break from Fashion Week, as I spotted numerous fashionistas at the event, wearing the last of their summer whites with dazzling diamond tennis bracelets and crocodile Birkin bags. I even saw Anna Wintour attending both matches, sitting first with Vogue September covergirl Charlize Theron and boyfriend, Stuart Townsend, and then with Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale.
Although Rafael Nadal supporters are probably sad that Juan Marin del Potro and Roger Federer advanced to the Men’s Finals today for the US Open, eschewing the usual expected expected pairing of Nadal versus Federer, Nike has designed stylish and fun shirts this year to declare your support for your favorite. If you’re more of a Rafael Nadal girl, and love his vigor and spirited displays on the court (those muscles don’t hurt either,) Nike has the Pink “Love Rafa” tshirt for you to wear. Love the grace and deceivingly simplistic ease to which Roger Federer dominates tennis? Choose the gray “Love Roger” shirt. We all know which shirt Anna would choose to wear, given her much publicized support of one particular tennis player.
Both tshirts are currently being sold at the US Open for $22 and also can be found on the Nike website. I myself can never decide which one to support, which is a good excuse for me to get both.
